I'm more unhappy that Scott and Selanne have tied Burke's hands for 70 days than for DiPenta's signing.

Even if Nieds doesn't come back, where is there room for him on the roster?

Bad move.

Maybe. I mean, he does like to stand around.

Former Anaheim Ducks defenceman Joe DiPenta appears on his way overseas but not to the Continental Hockey League. According to the team's website, DiPenta has signed on with Frolunda of the Swedish Elite League.

"He is a stable player who always does his job with great heart," said Frolunda head coach Ulf Dahlen.

Last season, DiPenta appeared in 23 games with the Ducks, scoring once and adding four assists while finishing with a +3 rating.

He was a member of the Stanley Cup champion team in 2006-07

Per TSN

I just realized the title was all capitalized, and I couldn't fix it. Sorry.

I will definitely miss him. He put his heart and soul into this team and I wish him nothing but the best. Always great to see a guy with minimal talent, but great work ethic (a la David Eckstein) win a championship and contribute as well.

Joe D was an unsung hero of the Ducks Stanley Cup Championship with his reliable defense. Best wishes to him in Sweden and thanks for helping bring Anaheim the Cup.

Joe did everything he was asked to do. I loved watching him skate! wink.gif It's really great to see him try for an adventure in his career. I hope it all works out for him. It's always tough to say goodbye to the guys that won Anaheim the Cup. bye2.gif

Yay Joey! I'm so happy he wasn't going to put himself through another season like last year. He'll have a great opportunity in Sweden. Playing for Ulf Dahlen no less. They can trade Cup winning stories.

But Joey will be missed. If every player has his kind of drive. You put his work ethic and passion into a Sandis Ozolish and he's a hall of famer. He earned his way onto a very good and very deep team and became a champion. Thanks Joey, you were awesome. Good luck in Sweden.

Hard to believe that no NHL team gave him a contract. He's a wonderful bottom pairing guy for any team and can play a very reliable 12 minutes per game. I hope he will be back in the NHL the following season.
