The Brown Bears are really struggling this season but I am very happy that Kenai has a team...I am trying to get Danny enrolled in hockey this year too...he is 5 and really wants to learn to play. smile.gif ana-ban.gif

A team's first year is rarely pretty...the Bears just have to stick with it.

Has Ayla ever been interested in playing? It might help her use up some of that boundless energy of hers! You should definately take Danny skating and see how he does.

I'd love it if Ayla wanted to play but I'm not sure she wants to but Danny expressed interest on his own and that tells me he really wants to play....and yes this season will be a difficult one for the Brown Bears but I am hoping for good turnouts so the league can blossom and flourish here...I am loving that Gomez is now a Ranger...Alaska's poster boy for the NHL is on my second favorite team. Did you see Carey Price is backup to Huet now in Montreal...it seems Brad May partied with Hamilton with their Calder Cup and I bet Price was there too...Stanley Cup and Calder Cup were together pretty sweet.

Bridgey will get his chance methinks...but Price really came into his own last season...what a year he had!!! Especially what he did in the AHL...winning the Calder Cup.

Carey was a good kid too...I think I awarded him a Star of the Game medal more than once during his junior career. I was just so gleeful when the 'Birds got past his Amerks in the playoffs (Yes, I made a banner that said "The Price is Wrong" I'll admit) but that ended up being the best thing that could have happened to the kid because then he got to win the Calder Cup instead! If his junior team was still in the playoffs he never would have made that jump to the AHL.

Bridgey was released by the Salmon Kings last week...I don't know what he's doing now... sad.gif

QUOTE
Bears come back to wipe out Tornado

MATTHEW CARROLL
Peninsula Clarion

After Kenai River had the tying goal waved off Thursday night, the Brown Bears imploded, allowing four unanswered tallies in dropping an 8-3 decision to Texas.

When they had another goal called back only 44 seconds into Friday's tilt against the Tornado, a completely different team emerged.

The Brown Bears overcame a one-goal, third-period deficit by rallying for three scores in the final 15 minutes to capture a hard-fought, well-deserved, 4-2 victory over Texas at the Soldotna Sports Center.

"When you can believe in the guy that's sitting beside you and you can believe in the guy that's sitting across from you, things are real positive in the locker room and it just carries onto the ice," said Kenai River coach Mike Flanagan.

It took them some time but the Brown Bears are playing some solid hockey and getting two wins in the last 4 games....against some of the top teams in the NAHL!!! I'm trying to go to a game on Friday...just before I head out to the Platform.
