Last month, the Rangers declined to pick up the option on Lindros' $10.25 million contract, making the 31-year-old center an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his 13-year career.
"At $10 or $11 million, there was no way in the world they were going to pick it up. I wouldn't pick up my own option," Lindros said Monday at a charity golf tournament. "That being said, I've talked with a few teams, but I don't think there's any rush in doing anything."
Monday was one of the few times he's been able to swing a golf club this summer after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery three months ago.
Lindros spent his first eight seasons in the league with the Philadelphia Flyers, where he had his best season in 1995-1996, scoring 47 goals and 68 assists. Over the past three seasons in New York, however, the former first overall pick in the 1991 draft has seen his offensive numbers drop off significantly, due in part to the eight concussions he's suffered in his career.
"I'm at the point right now where I want to win a Cup," he said. "You're looking for what's a good fit for you and how you can help an organization."
Last season he had 10 goals and 22 assists in just 39 games.

Especially our Ducks. Don't even think it.
He definitely isn't physical. Unless you mean a physical liability.
He's one concussion short, maybe less, of the thirteenth floor.
His best days are behind him and we don't need anyone's cast offs.
Well said, Barmy.

Eric Lindros' health - a risky factor. One more concussion and ... I do not even want to think about it! With his massive salary and questionable health too big risk!
Eric Lindros dream - to sign with contender. Why does he go half way in dreaming? Why not dream of winning the Cup itself?! Was Tampa Bay a serious contender or Calgary Flames? Or even us a year ago? I think players like Lindros if they are serious about it must make a team a contender, not search a contender to help them. We all remember the story of Kariya and Selänne last year... :td:

I think this kind of comment from a player who suddenly doesn't get the money they want is just their way of making themselves feel more important than the lowly team that has failed to bow down to their demands. So petty. Classless even. And so silly in this day and age when teams like Carolina, Anaheim and Calgary have all shown that desire and teamwork are really the only ingredients that are needed to be a contender. Oh, yeah and a magnificent goalie too!

Yes, I find it kinda sad that some players kind of use the "What me, no not me, not my fault, etc etc etc" for the excuse. "Gotta play for a contender!"
Yeah, well, at the start of 2003-2004, who REALLY thoguht Calgary AND Tampa Bay were gonna be the contenders? The year before the Ducks? The year before the Canes? So, it can happen to anyone!
Perhaps, less time should be spent on $$$$$$$$$$$$$$, and me me me me me me me, and more time spent on hard work and teamwork!
Just a random rambling thought.....

Everytime I think of Lindros, I have the picture of him on the ice with the ref up next to him, here let me put the link in. It's probably my all time favorite funny hockey picture -- even though I really don't like to laugh about head injuries at all -- this one just can't help but tickle my funny bone -- Link After the pictures of the Slap Shot guys flip by, the picutre of Eric comes up...just wait for it...

Brain injuries are nothing to mess with and ANY team taking him is gambling a lot of money...I would never take that gamble!!! :beat: :beat:

doesn't toronto already get all the washed up players?
That is exactly what I mean. Lindros is a perfect fit for them. Kariya should join them too....and Hull too....
