Probably to clear out some defensemen. Now there isn't as much of a logjam.

It has to do with the fact that Anaheim had too many defenseman and they can't play 11 defenseman in Portland.

With that said Anaheim is still deep on D, because they still they need assign a player to Portland.

That means Marchant will center the checking line and Parros, May and Mowers will be on the 4th line...

I thought the League minimum is higher than Mowers' listed salary: $475K

He blows big time. I wouldn’t trade Saunders alone for him.

I'm a big fan of Burke. Not because I like the Ducks or I agree with him about Dustin Penner (which I do) or because I like lawyers (which I don't) but because he has assured Bruins fans that Mark Mowers will not be playing with the Bruins next year.

Now, I'm sure Mark is a good guy and all that but, putting that aside, thank God he's gone. Hopefully his departure also symbolically marks the shift into a new, tight checking and aggressive team attitude from the lackluster, soft game that Mark embodies. I hope this is also symbolic in that it gets rid of yet another vestige of the Dave Lewis era. No more will we have to suffer through unexplainable shifts for Mowers and suddenly the intuition of Bruins fans everywhere is vindicated.

We received two d-men in return (yes, the Bruins actually got something in return) in Brett Skinner and Nathan Saunders. Both are likely to be career AHLers at most but I don’t care because Mowers is gone. Is it possible Burke felt bad for Chiarelli after Chistov decided to abandon ship? Nah, probably not I guess, but this is almost like revenge.

I just heard a collective sigh of relief emanate from Bruins nation. Does this mean Metropolit can expect and offer?

Doesn't sound like a Brian Burke player, he'll be sent down in a week I think.

You ever actually watch Mowers? He isn't supposed to go to Anaheim I don't think, but I bet he could fit in if he tried hard enough.

If he wasn't for Anaheim, they would have assigned him instead of sending down Wirtanen.....I think he's going to fill in on the forth line and Carter is going to blend in on the third line.

I don't think there will be room on the 3rd line for carter.....looks like it will be moen, marchant, and rob Niedermayer......has more of a shot at fighting for the 4th line center job with mowers I believe.

There's a difference between the Bruins and the Ducks - and, no, I'm not talking about the fact that one team spent the summer partying with Stanley and the other finished so far out of contention that they could have been called the Kings or Coyotes.

In Anaheim, Mowers will be given a role, told to play within that role. If he does, he'll probably be very successful and a nice addition. If not, he'll be on a plane.

In Boston, they were stuck trying to make it work, because, bluntly, they didn't have enough talent in the system to have many other options.

"I'm meeting (the Ducks) in New York tonight and then getting on a plane for London, where we open the season on Saturday," said Mowers, who was reached by phone while getting on a plane at Logan Airport in Boston. "I definitely didn't expect to get traded, but it sure seems like they want me."

blink.gif One hit don't tell us anything about the kid. Maybe if Boston had a Parros or May, he would never have been hit, who knows. He also just may be used for trade bait or something like that.

OT...someone help that poor dog reach that cookie, he is starving. Dog abuse....? Hmmm.. goducks1ux5.gif

Watch several of Mowers' goals both with Detroit and Boston. Has speed and good hands.
