The Latest on the Senators
Goaltender Ray Emery is making the trip to Toronto for Wednesday's opener against the Maple Leafs, however he is not expected to dress as Martin Gerber's backup. Brian Elliott will serve as Gerber's back up for the immediate future.
"I'm not ready to go yet" Emery told TSN.
Neither head coach John Paddock nor Emery have any idea when he will return to game action. Emery continues to workout prior to the team practice.
Forward Dean McAmmond skated by himself today for the 1st time since suffering a concussion during last week's pre-season game against the Flyers. It was just a light skate but a positive sign McAmmond.
Dany Heatley is sticking to his word about not negotiating a new deal during the season. Heatley says he's not "drawing a line" but that he doesn't want the issue "becoming a distraction". Heatley with be a UFA on July 1 2008. - TSN

Battle for Ontario turned out to be a tough one.

Colorado won 4-3 in regulation. Dallas tried to mount a comeback in the 3rd, but ran out of time. 
Stastny had a natural hat trick for the season opener, which is the same thing his father did years ago.
