Canucks re-sign C Morrison
----------------------------
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (Ticker) - The Vancouver Canucks
remained busy Tuesday, re-signing center Brendan Morrison to a
one-year contract.
Financial terms were not disclosed for Morrison, who made $2.45
million in 2003-04.
One of four Canucks to appear in all 82 games last season,
Morrison saw his offensive numbers decline from the previous
campaigns as he recorded 22 goals and 38 assists. The
28-year-old, who centers Vancouver's top line, had a career-high
25 goals and 71 points in 2002-03.
"We are very excited to have Brendan under contract for next
season," general manager Dave Nonis said. "He has proven that
he can consistently produce at a high level."
A second-round pick of New Jersey in 1993, Morrison was acquired
by the Canucks in March 2000 for Alexander Mogilny. In 471
career games with the Devils and Vancouver, the British Columbia
native has 111 goals and 231 assists.
Morrison has played in 340 consecutive games, giving him the
second-longest current streak in the NHL behind Colorado
defenseman Karlis Skrastins, who has appeared in 351 straight
contests.
