The Detroit Red Wings on Monday signed defenceman Jiri Fischer to a three-year contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

''Jiri is a young and very talented player who is a big part of our future'', said Holland. ''We're happy to have him signed for the next three years.''

In 81 games with the Red Wings last year, Fischer tallied four goals and 15 assists. He has career totals of eight goals and 44 assists in 283 career games.

The 24-year-old Fischer was originally drafted by Detroit as the club's first choice (25th overall) in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft. He has played all five of his NHL seasons with Detroit.

I just remember Fischer scoring a goal on us in the 8-6 Ducks win!!!! But with all the BS being thrown around by Detroit...I give this a thumbs down. :td: x: :bbn: :jason:
