QUOTE
It will be reunion time on several fronts when center Andy McDonald makes his St. Louis Blues debut tonight against Calgary.

...
McDonald grew up near Blues defenseman Jay McKee in Ontario and the pair of friends were defense partners in an Atom league for two years. They also were teammates on the Ernestown Township youth league team that won the All-Ontario championship in 1988-89.

'We were pretty good childhood friends and I've kept in touch with him a little bit over the years,' McDonald said. 'Jay had a quicker route to the NHL and I was able to watch his career when we were growing up. To come first circle and to play on the same team with him is kind of amazing.'

Known for his speed and playmaking skills, the 30-year-old center also played with Blues winger Paul Kariya for two seasons in Anaheim. Kariya was one of the first people to call him after the trade was made and the pair will be on the same line tonight against the Flames.

...
'(Paul) took the time to call me and actually called me a couple times trying to make the transition easier for me and my family,' McDonald said. 'That's encouraging when you go to a new team like that. He's such a dynamic player and we had a little bit of success together before.'

When Andy McDonald walks into the Blues' locker room Sunday, there's a good chance he'll resume his long-standing debate with Paul Kariya, his reunited teammate.

He just scored against Calgary...Let's hope the change of scenery and a new challenge is what he needed... as well as what Weight needed.

Good luck Andy.

Andy and Paul on the same line is a scary thought. Those two together can do some damage. Nice to see them pick up where they left off. Good luck A Mac!

I have a feeling he is going to go an a tear.

So #9 and #19 (is it really #10 now?) are reunited in St. Louis. It's really too bad that Mac couldn't find chemistry without Teemu so far this season, but he will turn it around. We'll miss you Mac. Good Luck! bye2.gif This business of hockey is brutal sad.gif .

I loved mcdonald. I just loved his play and his love for the game. He might not have been the greatest player but he is my favorite.

Well it's the 1 year anniversary of the Kids Club party where I got to meet Andy McDonald, i'd like to commemorate that by repeating again that he was the ideal kind of player for this team. He appreciated the fans and showed an incredible amount of class, without question one of the nicest people I have ever met. He left my 10 year old little brother with an amazing impression and helped further his love of the Ducks.

Maybe one day he will pull a Teemu and come back for a second stint, but no matter what I am proud that I was able to watch him hoist the Cup on our ice and make Ottawa's defense look absolutely stupid in the process. (Let's not forget how he completely owned Roberto Luongo in game one of that series as well). Also, big Kudos to Andy for not being hurt much since missing the finals in 2003. There were times when we needed all the healthy players we could get and he managed to stay in the lineup and keep us chugging along.

That's why I asked Selanne if he felt any guilt when McDonald, his good friend, was traded. Is it possible Selanne's absence led to McDonald's scoring drought and ultimately to his being traded to the Blues for veteran center Doug Weight?

Selanne hesitated before answering.

"At the time, I wasn't sure if I was going to come back, so it's hard to feel guilty," he said. "Andy was struggling. It was something we couldn't control. … But we got Dougie Weight, obviously a great player."

St. Louis Blues' centre Andy McDonald left Sunday's game against the Montreal Canadiens in the first period after crashing into the boards.

McDonald is expected to undergo an MRI on Monday to determine the extent of the injury but the initial diagnosis is a fractured left leg.

The veteran centre crashed awkwardly into the corner boards and left the game with assistance, unable to put any weight on the injured leg.

This season, McDonald has scored six goals and added 12 assists for 18 points in 15 games.

I mentioned that in the NHL GDT as I tuned in to the game and it happened immediately then. I didn't look good as Andy couldn't put any weight on the leg at all. Speedy recovery Andy.
