TSN's Ice Chips:

QUOTE
goducks1ux5.gif Centre Ryan Getzlaf, the Ducks' leading scorer, did not practice because of an illness. "He's got a cold," Carlyle said. Winger George Parros remains questionable for tonight. - LA Times

atl.gif Forward Jim Slater skated for the second consecutive day on Saturday morning. His return from a groin injury is on schedule, with his main concern now getting back in hockey shape. Forward Eric Perrin missed his first game of the season after injuring his knee during Friday's practice. Slava Kozlov centered the second line in Perrins place. Don Waddell said there was no structural damage to Perrin's knee, and he's expected to play on Tuesday. - Atlanta Journal-Constitution

buff.png Defenseman Teppo Numminen was back on the ice Saturday morning, three days after returning home from Ottawa when he learned Sabres doctors had pushed the timetable for his return from heart surgery back to mid-March. Numminen said his goal is still to play this season, even though it's likely he won't be cleared for contact until the final handful of games. - Buffalo News

car.png The Hurricanes were again missing four players due to illness and are still waiting to get Matt Cullen, Scott Walker, Bret Hedican and David Tanabe back from injuries. - News Observer

chi.png Patrick Lalime is scheduled to start in goal Sunday against the Predators and Denis Savard said "theres a chance" he could get additional starts in place of struggling starter Nikolai Khabibulin if he plays well. Brent Sopel returned from a seven-game absence with a broken finger Friday and scored his first goal of the season. Defenseman James Wisniewski (sprained knee) might be the next to return. He will resume skating Monday. - Chicago Tribune

clm.png Columbus center Sergei Fedorov missed last night's game with a hip pointer he suffered on Friday. - Columbus Dispatch

dal.png Defenseman Sergei Sergei Zubov missed yesterday's game because of a foot injury, and the Stars also are still missing Philippe Boucher (shoulder), Jussi Jokinen (knee) and Jere Lehtinen (sports hernia). - Dallas Morning News

min.png Derek Boogaard excitedly returned to practice for the first time in a month. Boogaard, out 18 of the past 21 games and 13 in a row because of a back injury, said, "I felt like a newborn again out there." - Minnesota Star-Tribune

mon.png Forward Corey Locke has been assigned to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

nsh.png Defenseman Shea Weber participated in the teams morning skate and is expected to return to full practice early in the coming week. Weber missed his 10th straight game with a leg injury. - Tennessean

nj.png John Madden left the last night's game in the third after requiring stitches on a skate cut on his right ankle. He hopes to be able to play when Devils play host to Isles on Wednesday. Devils again sat out Sheldon Brookbank and Karel Rachunek . - New York Post

nyi.png Coach Ted Nolan said Brendan Witt will undergo an MRI examination, but a club spokesman yesterday said he was uncertain if that took place in Ottawa or will wait until the team returns to Long Island after playing the Senators tonight at Scotiabank Place. - Newsday

nyr.png Rangers forward Brendan Shanahan missed the game with various ailments related to a knee injury he sustained last week. He said a sore hamstring and hip were from overcompensating for the knee. Rangers Coach Tom Renney said he expected him back for Monday's game at Pittsburgh. - New York Times

ott.png Ottawa Senators forward Dany Heatley suffered a separated shoulder in Saturday's 3-2 victory over Detroit and will be out of action for 4-6 weeks. - TSN

pitt.png Center Erik Christensen missed Saturday's game against Atlanta and has temporarily left the team. Christensen was informed yesterday that his grandfather had died and went to be with his family in Edmonton. He will, more than likely, also miss Monday's game against the New York Rangers at Mellon Arena. Right wing Tyler Kennedy missed his second consecutive game last night because of weakness from having the flu. Kennedy lost several pounds because of the illness and is not in game shape, but he fully expects to play against the Rangers. - Pittsburgh Post Gazette

tmp.png Defenseman Dan Boyle, who has had two wrist surgeries since the start of the season, has begun skating and could return by the end of the month. - Palm Beach Post

wsh.png Chris Clark practiced again yesterday and said afterward that he'll be a game-time decision when the Washington Capitals host the Philadelphia Flyers this afternoon.
