Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ruslan Fedotenko came up short in his salary arbitration, as he was awarded a one-year, $1.5 million US contract on Wednesday.
Fedotenko was seeking a $1.775 million US deal, while the Lightning sought a one-year deal for $1.15 million.
"I don't know what kind of impact or role the player's association plays in the process, but for whatever reason settlements are not easy to achieve this year and I'm not sure why this is," Lightning general manager Jay Feaster told the Tampa Tribune.
"I thought we were kind of close to getting something done, and we presented an offer Tuesday morning that they looked at, showed to the (players' association) and they came back with a counter we were not willing to do."
Fedotenko's best hockey came in Tampa's Stanley Cup-winnng run, as he tied for the team lead with 12 goals in 22 playoff games.
That's a pretty good number for both teams

It looks like it was "church in the middle"... Slightly more close to Fedotenko than club dreams...

It's again the same thing like before with Kubina.Fedotenko gets more then the half then beore, but for a good player like he is,1,5 imillion is not that much.
