I picked "charm." He has an amazing charisma and you can't help but smile when you are around him or when you see him on the ice. I swear Carlyle has been downright jovial (by Carlyle standards) since Monday. Everyone is affected in a positive way and that can only be a good thing for the team.

I always thought he would have made a great splash on the silver screen if it wasn't for his ability to skate. He walks into the room and everyone else follows him. It's weird, yet true.

Yes, I'm sure that if all Selanne did was smile and charm everyone but only scored 5 goals a year we'd feel the same way about him rolleyes.gif

Easy to say that knowing that Selanne is a future HoF member and that he helped the Ducks win the cup.gif

I just want to say this now as this is as good a place as any.

When I first started actually attending Ducks games at the Pond was after Teemu had been traded to SJ. I hadn't seen much of the Ducks to that point on TV because I was, frankly unaware they existed (I'm quite the newbie hockey fan).

Anyway, I would see jerseys all over the Pond with "Selanne" on the back. I never saw that name on the ice until I saw an SJ game. Then I saw it on the back of this speedy forward with incredible good looks who tried so hard. I wondered why he wasn't still on the Ducks. I started looking around and found this little forum called Allducks where I learned more than I ever would need to know about Teemu and why he was traded.

Fast forward to Teemu being re-signed by Burke in 2005. I couldn't see the point as I had seen his lousy performance as an Av and I had a little grudge that he would sway Kariya into leaving the Ducks for a "Cup". But the first time I saw him on the ice at the Pond, I knew why he was back. He never, ever looked that good as a fish or a snowflake!! He was flat out awesome. I saw him a few times around AI and always thought he brought the sun with him.

I was crushed when he decided to leave the game. But I figured that was his choice to make. Good on him, best of luck in his next adventure in life.

But when I got that photo of him skating again at AI, my heart beat faster, the world looked brighter and birds sang sweeter.

He has that power. He's a class act (except for the "stick incident") and deserves our wholehearted support when he once again hits the ice at his "Happy Place", the Pond.
