Ottawa (36-23-6=78)

Lowlights: Once the runaway leaders in the east, the Senators are 7-13-2 in their last 22 games, which includes three different three game losing streaks. Ottawa retains second place in the conference and made one of the season's bigger deals but that did not save John Paddock's job. Bryan Murray's return to the bench was tempered with a loss to the only team slumping nearly as badly, the Flyers.

(secondary question: What happens if the Senators lose to the Ducks monday in what will surely be an emotional, read: bloody, reunion for the two teams.)

Philadelphia (32-25-7=71)

Lowlights: 10 game losing streak (0-8-2) snapped by 2 game winning streak, but the Flyers have plummeted in the standings and cling to the 8th spot by virute of the "more wins" tiebreaker with Buffalo. Philadelphia has suffered from a horrible amount of injuries and were unable to lure Peter Forsberg back into their fold. Even worse, they have steve Downie, which means that everyone else in the league hates them automatically.

(secondary question: Do Flyer fans even DESERVE playoff hockey? Those dips shouldn't be allowed to play in late April unless they quit stealing our damn goal song.)

I ended up voting for Ottawa because Philadelphia, despite their collapse, has still hugely improved from last season's dismal adventure.

If the Sens fall to the Ducks the remainder of their season will be a freefall... it will crush their souls.

damn that would be fun to watch... GO DUCKS!!!!

oh yea, Sens win this poll hands down.... they started the year breaking records.... i mean think about it.

Really i think it's a simple case of peaking to early.
if the Ducks are a sleeping bear waking up slowly then the sens are a meth addict who got off to a blazing start but is now burnt out and wants nothing more than to curl up in the corner and sleep off the withdrawls... or die... whichever happens first.

I went with Philly, as I don't think the Sens are out of it yet. To go from a really hot team to on the verge of missing the play-offs suggests a bigger melt-down to me.

IIRC, last season we started out hot, broke all kinds of records, slumped, then won the cup.

I went with the Senators because at least Philly is vastly improved from last year. (even though they're trying to copycat the ducks)

Just for the record, as of right now Ottawa has dropped further and are now FIFTH in the standings. Only seven ahead of Philadelphia.
