Much has been made of not only the Ducks' tough style of play, but of the tough approach of their GM. Accusations of being "dirty" are finding targets at most every level of the organization, usually starting out with being the most penalized team in hockey on the ice, to having the most-often suspended current team captain (along with the most conniving ex-captain) leading a band of suspendees, to Salary Cap management anomalies with super stars, to public stances taken by the team through it's GM, among others.
Whatever the problems other people have with the Ducks, I say anything allowed within the rules and interpretations are fair play. As a matter of fact, I would not be satisfied with anything less than full blown, "on the edge" effort from the whole organization.
Are the Ducks "playing dirty" to win the Stanley Cup?

Before this Ducks team was conceived, I would watch the Mighty Ducks every game and at some point in the game I would scream at the screen "Somebody! Hit somebody!!". Even then I was aware that fore checking was a good thing. To see it actually used as part of the game plan every single night is just incredible. I have even gotten to acknowledge that a fight is useful on occasion. However, dirty hits fall in neither of those two categories of rough play and should be penalized by the league. I believe that hockey has survived as a sport this long because these young men have been dealing with all of it from the day they first walked on the ice.

As long as the fans and parents, in particular, don't deal with it like this: Exhibit B WARNING EXTREMELY FOUL LANGUAGE from Mom. Do Not go to this link if profanity offends you!

I never really think our syle is 'dirty' its more kind of a 'trashy' style but having a team with a bunch of big guys you'd be stupid not to use that style to your advantage!Like ya'll said its o.k. in the big leagues but once you get parents and 6-7 year old kids in a full-out brawl its definitely wrong to do!I'm actually a fan of a good 'trashy' game cause say if you were suspended every-time you checked someone hard or got into a fight and you'd be suspened for it,you'd have like only 3 guys on the Ducks team right now!
But of course if you like friggin land a jumping elbow-check on somebody then the player should definitely should be suspended for it or atleast getting a game-misconduct or some kind of punishment!

Yes, they are. This isn't the '70's anymore. They're playing absolutely dirty hockey.
But I love it.

Apparently not dirty enough.
Not in the eyes of the officials, obviously.
Final tally:
Ducks 50 penalties
Stars 36 penalties
