Ducks' forward Corey Perry skated Saturday prior to game 2 of the Ducks' series with the Stars, however he still was having issues with swelling around the tendon's in his injured quadriceps. He will not likely be healthy enough to return in the first round. - LA Times

Head coach Claude Julien made Phil Kessel a healthy scratch for Game 2 while Dennis Wideman also missed the game with what the B's termed a lower-torso injury. - Boston Herald

Craig Conroy and Daymond Langkow switched places and the Yelle-Lombardi-Primeau line is reunited from the regular season. Coach Mike Keenan changed his lines in practice several times without employing those changes in a game, keeping everyone guessing. - TSN

After watching Darren McCarty play his first game back with the Red Wings, head coach Mike Babcock didn't think McCarty would be of help come playoff time. "I didn't think he could ever play. I never told him that, but just by watching," Babcock said. But McCarty (seven shifts, 4:58 ice time) has worked hard in the weight room, on and off the ice, and Thursday was in the lineup. "He has good hockey sense, and we're optimistic he can help us. He knows how to play," Babcock said.

Saku Koivu's latest exam Wednesday did not reveal any setbacks. Head coach Guy Carbonneau says the captain's recovery is going fine and normal, but still needs time to heal.
Francis Bouillon skated Saturday despite being told to take 3-4 complete days' rest. According to Carbonneau, Bouillon was really sore, but felt better today and took to the ice for 10-15 minutes. He also said that if it was Game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals both would try to play. - TSN

Defenseman Mark Eaton, who had his right knee reconstructed several months ago, went through his first on-ice workout yesterday, putting in a session with conditioning coach Mike Kadar before the Penguins' game-day skate at Mellon Arena. Um okay. I think most people are cheering for him because he's a feel good story and he's so fun to watch. He is just so genuine, unlike some other stars in this league. But that doesn't mean his team is favored to win the conference or the Cup.

Heh I'm rooting for the Caps because I live in DC. Bandwagoners!! Hehehe.

Seriously though... terrible game. The Caps did well in the first period, but this one has been a disaster. In my opinion one of the main reasons their defense is so off today is that with Schultz back in this game, Boudreau chose to sit Eminger instead of Erskine. Eminger is a better defender, but Erskine is a better hitter, and Boudreau presumably wanted that physical play against the Flyers. I think this game has shown that to be a mistake.

The Capitals pulled an Anaheim in this game. Horrible defense, suspect goaltending, no offense to speak of. At least they didn't seem as disinterested as the Ducks did last night.
