So i came up with this idea a few days back and ran it by MT to see what he thought, and now we are going to throw this out to you all. This will only work if there is a lot of participation...

...so heres the idea: "The Allducks.com Awards"...since it is the time of year for the top NHL brass and writers to gather around and handout awards for the season such as the Veznia,Hart,Lady Byng,ect...I though maybe we could do the same. but with a little Anaheim Ducks twist to it... for example:

the J.S. Giguere Award-for the best allducks desginer
the Ryan Getzlaf Award- for most cocky allducks poster
the George Parros Award- for best allducks enforcer
the Teemu Selanne Award- for the allducks poster that best resembles class

...just a few examples, but there could be more...now there would be nominations for the awards and would then go to a vote by all but a few may be given out by the mods for certain awards...then winner will receive a award that would be in the form of a avatar or sig in which would display what you won...

...so like i said there needs to be a lot of participation but i think it is kind of cool and will maybe put some smiles on some faces and encourage some to continue to grow and get involved with the allducks community...so lets see what everyone thinks and feel free to post some ideas...thanks for the participation

I like the idea. I think nominations need to open after the last game is played, maybe even after the draft and before training camp.

Yeah! That'd be cool
Once the nominees are set, make a poll, have everyone vote

Someone can make some userbars to put in the winner's signature to signify their victory

Great idea! biggrin.gif

Now to think of all the categories... hmm.gif

Great idea! After the playoffs would be the best time. Here are some ideas to mull over.

Pronger Award - Allducks member who displays Captain-like abilities

Pahlsson Award - Allducks member who best represents their country (open to those outside of the US)

Ahlers, Carroll, Hayward, Severyn Award - Allducks member who is our best media representative

Niedermania Award - best family members posting on Allducks

That's frightening.

I'd say something about great minds thinking alike, but I don't want to insult you.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I sort of just insulted you by saying I took the high road and, well, that would mean you went straight down to the gutter!

Which would then mean that you took the high road in not insulting me back. Which would mean that we think alike. Which was what you said.

Okay, back to the subject at hand now.

Is there going to be an award for each team member?

I love this idea. Very creative awards, too.

Perhaps a Perry award for Allducks member most likely to get under your skin?

The Ahlers, Carroll, Hayward, Severyn Award - Allducks member who is our best media representative is a no brainer. DTP scours the local media daily to provide us with an outstanding Media Roundup site thumbsup.gif

Would someone want to do this as a secret ballot? I don't know if I'd feel comfortable in voting for these awards in public.

I'll even volunteer to tally the votes.

We do a similar light-hearted award system on another board I use and that's secret ballot with members emailing one person with their votes in each category. More people vote that way and it saves any awkward moments for bashful members, it also means that the amount of votes cast is secret too. Also if people only wish to vote in a few categories then they can, they won't feel obligated to nominate someone for every award.

the polls don't show who voted...

but nominations could get dicey lol

ON THF we have a list of categories and if you wish you vote you just email the person that in charge of it, we do this every year around june. They count the votes and they are announced are our annual charity game. We have for the past 6 years had a weekend of hockey games that the members of THF play in, we have other money raising events over the weekend too. We raised £6,463.56 for the chosen charity last year smile.gif A committee made up of board members plans the festivities and the THF awards is a small part of that. The winners of the awards are posted on the board the next day for those people had weren't able to go to the game.

Just though I'd mention how we do it on THF but I'm not saying we have to do it that way here. smile.gif
