TSN's Ice Chips:

QUOTE
goducks1ux5.gif Forward Rob Niedermayer continues to have concussion-like symptoms, but he is improving. - LA Times

col.png Joel Quenneville made lineup adjustments after the second intermission. He moved Peter Forsberg back onto a line with Milan Hejduk and Stastny, and moved Wolski back onto a unit with Joe Sakic and Andrew Brunette. The move paid off with the winning goal in the third period. - Denver Post

dal.png Defenceman Philippe Boucher missed Game 4 on Thursday with a lower body injury and did not travel to Anaheim for Game 5 tonight. Krys Barch, Brad Winchester and B.J. Crombeen were healthy scratches on Thursday. - Dallas Morning News

det.png Increasingly it looks as if Kirk Maltby won't be ready for this first round of the playoffs. The hamstring injury that has kept Maltby in the trainer's room instead of on the ice is getting better, but Maltby will likely run out of time. - Detroit News

min.png Mark Parrish, who sustained a concussion in Game 1 spoke to the media on Thursday. "It's just frustrating watching, not being able to help or having anything to say on the matter. Being injured during the season is hard, but during the playoffs is 18 times harder." Parrish will miss the rest of the series at a minimum. - St. Paul Pioneer Press

nj.png Neither Mike Rupp (tight back) nor Brian Gionta took part in the Devils' brief skate. Both said they will play tonight. "I'm trying to give myself the best chance for (tonight)," Rupp said. "I'm just a little locked up." Gionta (no points in four games) said he was resting. - Newark Star Ledger

nyr.png Rangers defenseman Marc Staal did not practice Thursday after blocking a shot with his ankle in the third period Wednesday night. Staal did not miss a shift and later scored the winning goal. Tom Renney said Staal was not injured and would play Friday. - New York Times

phi.png Coach John Stevens said Jaroslav Modry will go back to the Czech Republic sometime next week to attend funeral services for his dead father. Games 6 and 7 are scheduled for Monday and Tuesday, so there’s the possibility he might miss one or both of those games. - phillyblurbs.com

sjs.png Sharks defenseman Kyle McLaren struggled to get off the ice in his first shift of the second period Thursday night in Game 5 at HP Pavilion. He did not return after that. Information about McLaren's condition was unavailable but the veteran defenseman has been troubled this season by an ailing right knee. - TSN

"I shook everybody's hand but one," Brodeur said.

Avery said he was fully prepared to reach out to Brodeur, but didn't get the chance.

"Everyone talks about how much class I don't have, well it's the end of the series and men go to war against each other," Avery said. "I guess he forgot to shake my hand. I don't know if anyone saw that. Of course I was going to shake his hand."
