They have since changed the story saying Avery walked into the hospital and he will make a full recovery.

I won't say that I'm deeply saddened by this injury. Nonetheless, may he get well eventually.

Best wishes for a quick recovery. He may be a jerk, but he's still a human being and I still hold out hope that he may be traded to Montreal some day biggrin.gif

Do we know who the new found celebrity is? The news report only said, a Pittsburg Defenseman.

Or maybe it was a well placed pin in an Avery voodoo doll?

Looks like miss-information... but if it happened in the 1st as Avery's mom said... according to NHL.com's play by play...

12:47 HIT PIT #18 HOSSA HIT NYR #16 AVERY, Def. Zone

looks like you can thank Mr. Hossa

however... if it happened in the 2nd, then it could very well have involved a D man...

11:19 HIT NYR #16 AVERY HIT PIT #44 ORPIK, Neu. Zone

you can thank Mr. Orpik for being a bit more solid than Avery expected

Still a rollercoaster ride. Sigh ... Go Ducks!

QUOTE
Rangers forward Sean Avery remained in an intensive care unit Thursday, two days after his spleen was lacerated during a playoff loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

"He won't be removed from there until it stops bleeding, and it hasn't," team spokesman John Rosasco said Thursday after the Rangers held their morning skate before Game 4.

If the blood loss continues (hemorrhage) they'll have to remove the spleen and tie up the blood vessels, if I'm not mistaken. Where's bryzfan when you need him...
