Jordan's brother, Eric, has also left Team Canada at the World Championships to return home for the funeral.
"This is personal," Therrien said. "Everybody deals with those things differently. He came to see me yesterday announcing the bad news, but he seems all right. He's focused, and I'm sure all of his concentration will be there for tonight's game."

laugh all you want...
Detroit is a great team this year... But Pitt is better.
Just as i told you last year Ducks physical play would be too much for the wings...
This year Pittsburghs skill will be too much for the Wings and that series will be over in 6(i had previously said 5, but the wings seem to be a bit more physical in this round, so i'll give them a game)
Pitt is not Nashville, or a very injured Avalanche... or Detroit.
They have 3 unstopables.
even if you manage to stop Crosby (fat freakin chance), that just leaves Malkin alone to do his bidding... and I think it's obvious now, he is the best player on that team... or at least the one you least want to face... the kid really bloomed...
now instead of Pitt having "Sid The Kid" and 'that other good russian kid'... Malkin is playing so well and with such heart that they might as well have Sid and Ovechkin... oh yeah... and then there is that Hossa guy, i hear he's not bad either
I'm normally a big fan of "D" teams, of grit prevailing over speed and skill... So Pitt might seem an odd choice... but I think they have shown the gritt... comparing them to last year's finalists, they have 90% of the Grit of the 07/08 Ducks with 120% of the talent of the Sens....
I not only think they will take Detroit... i think they have the potential to do so in a VERY convincing manner

so last year there were no bad bounces or anything right...you just killed the wings? hahaha
you are saying this just like mullent man was saying that his sharks were going all the way. and then nashville was going to beat us.....nope that didn't happen....well how about the avs..they are young and fast...the wings are slow and can't score against our #1 goalie...yeah...oh man look at dallas...they beat the ducks...then they beat the sharks.....the wings are dead...yeah....thats not happening as well. so you can keep going against them..its your right..but i would be scared to.

It could see it going either way. This should be a great series... in the end, I think it will be Detroit that prevails. Or I could be blinded by my wish to see Crosby denied.

The refs are ruining this game.
This game is being called ridiculously tight.
Oooh! A make-up call!

Philly uses Bro Hymn too as their goal song? Haven't really paid attention before, just noticed it now. And the orange in the crowd? Makes me miss the Ducks even more. Entertaining game, even though the refs are penalizing the teams like crazy.

The use of Bro Hymn was one of the 4 reasons I picked the Flyers to win. The other 3 were: Lupul, Prospal and no Cup for the Pens this season. Not necessarily in that order.
2-1 Pens after First.

Jere Lehtinen (leg) did not play in Game 3 of the Western Conference Final nor did he practice today and Dave Tippett says it is very doubtful that he will play tomorrow. Brendan Morrow and Mike Modano did not practice today but both are expected to play in game 4. Stu Barnes (concussion-like symptoms) missed his sixth game of the playoffs on Monday. Defenceman Philippe Boucher (hip strain) is out. - TSN
Franzen had tests yesterday and he is still having headaches. He has performed no physical activity yet. He will not play tomorrow and is day to day. TSN

Pittsburgh at Philadelphia 4-1 (3-0 series). Philadelphia is completely out of gas. I didn't watch the whole game, but they had nothing from what I could see. Shots from the perimeter, no traffic in front of the net, no Briere, no Prospal, a little of Lupul, but not enough.

They showed the fans (that stayed to the bitter end) after the 4th goal and their looks of just disbelief....made me sad.... because I know how they felt this season.

“We are not going to quit. We are going to come out in Game 4 and play as hard as we can. I can guarantee you that.”
