Braydon Coburn is not playing tonight in Game 4. He had no setbacks, meaning the swelling has gone down on his eyes. He can see, and he just doesn't feel quite ready to get back in and play. They're hopeful for his return in a possible Game 5. Also, Steve Downie is out of the lineup, with Patrick Thoresen back in. - TSN

Left winger Gary Roberts, who missed Game 3 because of pneumonia, is listed as day-to-day, but appears to be a long shot to play tonight. - Post Gazette

Loui Eriksson, Joel Lundqvist and Toby Petersen played together in Game 4 for the first since they were teammates in Iowa (AHL). Defenceman Sergei Zubov still isn't fully recovered from having surgery to repair a sports hernia just over a month ago. "I'm tweaking it here and there, but it's hanging, so that's good," Zubov said. - Dallas Morning News

Detroit winger Johan Franzen, sidelined by concussion-like symptoms, has been cleared to resume light workouts. "He's been given the green light to go ahead and work out," general manager Ken Holland said. "Not full out, but he can ride a bike and start doing some things, so that's good news."

The Wings have signed Swedish goaltending prospect Daniel Larsson to a two-year contract. Larsson was selected 92nd overall in the 2006 NHL Draft and was voted the best goalie in the Swedish Elite League this season. - Detroit Free Press

Pittsburgh needed a goal early in the third period to have any kind of chance, and the Penguins got one when Staal came out of the corner to the right of Biron and drove to the net. Kennedy got off a shot that Biron stopped, but Staal got his stick on the rebound and nudged it into the net off the goaltender. Staal was in the lineup one day after attending the funeral of his grandmother in Thunder Bay, Ontario.
