Boo
I'd rather have another Black/Gold, water-bearing, hockey playing bird to win the Cup

Red Wings' defenceman Chris Chelios appeared to be limping on Friday but considered himself healthy enough to play. However, he does not expect to play in Game 1 on Saturday. If Chelios does not not play, Andreas Lilja will likely suit up. TSN

It's a good thing in my opinion he did that. It's an annoying tradition that delays the game. It's disgusting, too.

Bettman is just worried another slimy creature is going to upstage him.
Give me a break.
This is the Stanley Cup, not Wimbledon.

tell us how you really feel
i think they should also stop doing the handshake at the end of a playoff series. there is no telling what kind of germs the other players have.

Fleury actually played much better than the score (actually 5-0) indicated. That's how good the Red Things are.

But I don't think it's a good sign for a team/player when their goalie trips going on to the ice.

...
“We were in there (the penalty box) way too much in the first period,” Osgood said. “After that, I thought we didn't turn pucks over as much as we did in the first. That's why we got the penalties. We got pucks deep, then we grind their ‘D.’ Sometimes things don't happen right away. You don't reap the rewards until later. That's what happened.
“I thought we were tough on their ‘D’ in the last two periods of the game, made them skate back for a lot of pucks. And defense is difficult when guys are hitting you non-stop for 40 straight minutes and that's what we accomplished. That's why we ended up getting the goals that we did.”

I've read a dozen articles on the opening game, and have only seen one almost apologetic mention of Big Al and his slimy pal.
Didn't everyone watching the game on TV see this?

It comes with Holmstrom's reputation.
Deal.
Why would you begin to complain about stuff like that in a 4-0 victory?
If the Pens had scored on that PP and won the game by one goal.
Then there are grounds to make a stink about it.
Otherwise, leave your wine and grapes about it on the Wings board.
Thanks

wow is someone still upset? i don't see where i made that big of a deal about it. i thought it was pretty funny. and i posted it on a thread that we talk about the game which is the wings and the pens...if YOU don't like it don't post in here. geez. getting a bad call is getting a bad call. it would be the same if it went against your team. you have to admit that it was a pretty weak call...if you you acutally watched the game and not just making a comment because im a wings fan.hahahaha
IM BEING NICE DK.=)

I could honestly care less who wins the Cup. I'd rather have Detroit not win, but it's no skin off my back.
And yes its a weak call.
But you know that that's not the first time thats happened this year.
Hell, it happened back in February when I saw the Ducks and Wings at the Joe.
Holmstrom slightly put his ass in Jiggy's face and they called it interference on what would've been the tying goal.
But in our eyes here, its a minor event that nobody else here payed any attention to.
And I understand that it was against your team and this is the thread about the game.
But you still won 4-0.
If something like that happened in a 4-0 win for the Ducks, I wouldnt really think twice about it.
IF it was the deciding play of the game, like I used as an example, then there would be a legitimate beef to have about it.
Just points out how big of whiners Wings fans are when even the little things dont go their way.
