Oh and that jersey ... (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sick.gif) I thought they put another dot in the name with a period after C•H•O•P•S(.) on that jersey, but upon further research I now realize that the franchise has trademarked the moniker and the period is actually the "TM" insignia. I will now sleep easier knowing that no one else will attempt to steal that name after the team stole it from the group Changing Homosexuals into Ordinary People. More veteran leadership for the CHOPS:
QUOTE Ajay Baines would have been back in a heartbeat. The Montreal Canadiens showed no interest, however, and so Baines, the Hamilton Bulldogs' captain last year, the player who scored the winning goal in the Calder Cup final against Hershey two seasons ago, now plays for the AHL's Iowa Chops. QUOTE Iowa Chops co-owner Kirby Schlegel hopes the season will be marked by a major increase in attendance and interest in the retooled American Hockey League franchise. "We know that we have some challenges, but our goal is to raise attendance 25 percent this year," said Schlegel, who is in Des Moines for the opening of the new season. "We have cut ticket prices and brought in a successful organization that plays tough and good hockey." <link> |
