Anaheim Ducks
Hope a new contract motivates young Logan this coming season. This is a good move. In case he has a great season we get him at a good price I'm sure.

Logan seems to be the forgotten Ducks prospect but I hope he is able to make the jump to the Ducks in 2009-2010.

I don't think we will be missing defensive centers for a long time
Seems like we're also thinking about next season already... good to see!

MacMillan, whom the Ducks chose 19th overall last year, agreed to a three-year, entry-level contract that includes $262,500 in signing-bonus money and a $787,500 annual salary if he plays at the NHL level.

Any update on this guy? As the draft was conducted this weekend and the analysts gushed over every pick I thought about Logan MacMillan, the Ducks 1st round pick in 2007, and wondered what the heck happened to him. Is he even a solid NHL prospect anymore? I'd hate to think that the Ducks wasted a first round pick on a dud but from what I can find online that appears to be the case. Anyone have an updated scouting report on him or know if/when he will ever make it to the NHL?

From what I've heard, injuries hampered his development so I think he's on the brink of becoming a bust. But overall-wise, I think the Ducks, after 2001, have been very keen on their drafting but there's always a bust here and there so, no biggie.

In the ducks prospect update thread you can see peoples thoughts on watching him play in the memorial cup. I saw just about every game he played in that tournament....It's a shame his team didn't give him any pp time....but I thought he played well on the PK... I can see him as a 3rd line Rob Niedermayer type of player.....thats not really what you want to hear about a first round pick, but thats what it looks like so far....luckly for us we re-stocked our prospects and young players this year in the draft especially with the pronger trade.

I think Logan will make a good NHLer. I think once he gets the feel of the game and finds his groove he could put up a decent amount of points. He's built for this league and everything I hear on him is he has a great mind for the game. It's a shame that we don't have an AHL affiliate because he's going to spend the whole year with a team that isn't concerned about his development. But I think after a year of pro hockey we'll really know what we have in him.

Is he a checking line kind of forward?

Yes but with some upside. In his peak he can become a 15-20 G 20-30 A player. I hope he can stay healthy!
