Wow.

He is just into his second year of a 3-yr contract that NJD has him signed to.

I wonder if Lamoriello expects he will go to Russia if nobody picks him up (though I doubt that will happen)?

I can't imagine that he won't be picked up by somebody. He's still got plenty "Vish-iousness" in his tank!

One big drawback on him is that he is vastly over-paid... $1.8mil per.

And since there are no re-entry waivers over the summer, no one can pick him up for half price yet.

It will be interesting to see what happens with him. I can see him ending up back home in Russia...

Vishnevski was a bust, given his $5.4 million deal. He had two goals and five assists in 69 games. He played three playoff games and didn't have a point.

The team could clear cap space Vishnevski goes unclaimed and is sent to the minors. Attempts over the summer to trade Vishnevski came to naught before Devils brass decided to waive him less than a month before training camp.

Devils GM Lou Lamoriello told the Star-Ledger of Newark earlier this week he expected rookies to make things competitive in September's training camp.

Vishnevski on Tuesday signed a contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl of Russia's Kontinental Hockey League.
