Scotty was the Captain for two highly successful playoff runs and is a lock for the Hall of Fame, even though he wears our jersey you can expect the referees to listen to what he says.

Give it to Getz when Nieds retires (hopefully not after this season).

As far as the "A" goes, I don't mind Pronger and/or Rob and/or Kunitz having them, but I think i'd like to see Getzlaf or Perry given one as they are going to be key players in our future as well as our present. No disrespect to Pronger, Rob, or many of the other Veterans on this team, but how many of them will be left in two seasons, let alone the five more that we will have Getz and Perry. The shift has already begun and by 2010-2011 we're going to witness a huge turnover from the post lockout squad (let alone the 06-07 champs) and that's something we really did not see in the past two off-seasons. I think it would be a strategic move to vest some of the leadership in guys who are going to be around when the next decade starts so when the time comes we can all benefit from some consistency.
Not that anyone who had a letter last season isn't as deserving. As a fan who grew up without ever actually playing the game I don't know what the personal significance is to the players, I'm just counting on the fact that if it does matter who has a letter on their shirt then the players that don't get one will have the class and dignity that we have come to expect from our team.

IDK guys, I mean, if we're going to have a goalie be the captain in the NHL, it might as well be a respectable one, one who has never had any charges of oversized equipment or had his sanity in question. I mean, DUH! JS Giguere!
Ok, so, Scotty Nieds should have the C, but I say Jiggy is the Vice-C. In the event that Scotty is injured/traded/dies Jiggy will rise to captain!!!

I hope that the C goes to Teemu, and the 2 A´s to Pronger and Scott ! But i truly believe that Pronger will stay Captain and Scott and Rob will wear the A´s
