I hope Bret Hedican turns out to be better than most of us think/know he is.

Apparently not
I hope Bret Hedican turns out to be better than most of us think/know he is.
Why do I have a feeling that this is the second coming of Doug Weight? Oh and

“I’m very excited about this situation,” Hedican said. “I’m really excited about this hockey team. Obviously, everybody talks about their slow start, but I just see all the potential on this team. The great thing about it is they’ve won. A lot of these guys have won the Stanley Cup. When it comes down to crunch time, they’re going to know how to do it.”
...
“I had him (Hedican) before,” said Ducks general manager Brian Burke, who held the same position with the Vancouver Canucks when Hedican played there in 1998-99. “He has great mobility, even though he’s an older player now. He’s a good puck-moving, good-skating defenseman. We need that right now. We’re getting hemmed in our own end a little more than we should.”

Those are the best kind. He was a god skating defensemen 10 years ago and so he must be that good now. And while we are at it, let's pay him more than he is worth.

It does...and you know what it shouldn't. Just because some one played good for you in the past doesn't mean that they are what the team needs now.

Did you learn nothing when Todd Bertuzzi played for the Ducks? Oh...sorry, that was supposed to be directed to Brian Burke.
HA! No feces. Let's hope we don't end up with Mark Messier, either.
Has a Ducks signing ever been this universally unpopular? At least some people thought Todd Bertuzzi was a good signing - does anyone honestly think that Bret Hedican at $870,000 (moving us that much farther away from being able to call up Bobby Ryan) is a good move for the Ducks?

But Burke has been doing this all along. I've been uneasy about it since Bert. Now I am just disgusted. I've said all along if Burke could get the Sedins and Luongo tomorrow for Perry, Getzy and Giguere he would pull the trigger in a NY minute.

Luongo? He never played for Burke so he'd have no interest in him. Kevin Weekes, on the other hand...
I'll put it at 10. I'll also guess that he gets injured and has to miss some time within 15 games.

No, Burke wants Luongo bad. I am convinced he was trying to get him and was raising a stink and that's why he was fired from Vancouver. But that's just my opinion.

Oh good point. I should have added another clause for injury.

why did we sign McIver?
Why did we get Klee?
Another
im starting to think Burke doesn't want Ryan up in the NHL!
the only thing this would bring is a big trade going down asap

Beauchemin was not a popular but he had a strong effort and quickly became a favorite.
Let's hope he isn't on the trading block after this signing...

Beyond that, this one just boggles my mind and makes zero logical sense at all. Then again, I was never a koolaid drinker for the Burke school of management.
