Fantasy Camp Info

Almost forgot about this but found it when I was looking up some things on the Disney Ice website. All the times are 6pm - 8pm. Anyone going to watch? I believe people went last year to watch. The "game" is on Thursday.

Here's some pictures from this year's MD Fantasy Camp.

This was on the wall in the exercise room probably from the rookie off-ice conditioning camp. It looked like a weight chart for the week.

These are the "fitness awards" for the veterans and rookies. Doubt anyone will be able to guess or remember who won each year ... it starts with 2000 and goes to 2003 for each.

Jason Marshall was nice enough to show up for Fantasy Camp on both Monday and Thursday.

(click on image above for larger image)

This year's Camp did not have as many current Ducks players attend as last year's Camp. Besides Marshall, only Travis Green and Alexei Smirnov attended. Coaches Henning and MacLean attended and helped out at Camp. Coach MacLean had his son A.J. also attend a couple days. And Equipment Mgr. Kincaid and Trainer Sendowsky were available each day to assist the Fantasy campers. Brian Hayward came out to work with the goalies on one day of Camp. You'll probably be seeing more media coverage on the campers this year since there wasn't the Fedorov circus added to the Camp. The local papers were interviewing their respective campers.

Coates the doorman??

(click on image above for larger image)

Coates showed up for the second period of the game and "coached" each team for a period. Then since the white team was 2 goals behind with a few minutes to go in the third, he defected from the black team over to the white to try to even the score. Luckily for Babcock's black team, Coates failed. The white goalie was pulled and an empty net goal was scored with maybe half a minute left in the game.

Marshall reading the Yahoo Sports article on his signing with the NY Rangers before autographing it for our own TheOne! biggrin.gif

(click on image above for larger image)

At the beginning of the week, Marshall was either being mum about anything in the works, or this signing really did come out of the "blue." He said things were really quiet with the impending lockout. He wouldn't mind playing for the Ducks again, but he'd be happy just to play for a paycheck and ice time no matter what number they put on his jersey. He was autographing items with his San Jose Sharks #6. On Thursday, when this picture was taken, he admitted that he signed with the Rangers for "zero-point-something million" dollars.

DropThePuck do you know the score of the Fantasy Camp Game??? I heard it was 4-7... what do you know about that game? Who had goals?
I know that Babcock played with MacLean...right?

Uh, I wasn't keeping track of who scored the goals. I don't think Babcock or Marshall got a goal. But the black team (Babcock's) won 7-4. Last year's Camp, his team was on the losing end of a similar score. The white team landed up having more of the better playing campers, Jason Marshall, Lorne Henning, Rick Hutchinson, and Guido Sendowsky (Babcock commented that the white team was "loaded"). The black team had A.J. MacLean, Paul MacLean, Chris Kincaid, Alexei Smirnov, and Babcock.

I'll get to see the video of the game when it comes out. And if there's still some interest by then I can figure out the goal scoring.

Thank you DropThePuck for all the great pics. I just loved seeing Babs in gear, he looked so different.
It's seems so strange to see him smiling, not too many of those pics around.
Thanks again, you are sweet to do this for all the rest of us who can't go in person!! biggrin.gif

You're welcome everyone. Glad you enjoyed the pics.

Since everyone appears to be getting their kicks out of seeing Babcock in a jersey having some fun, here's one of him leaping over the boards onto the ice for a line change ...

Barry LeBrock of Fox Sports West trying to explain the intracacies of taping the twig to his crew ... I overheard him saying that he thought he shouldn't be using the entire roll of tape, but he didn't want the puck to be sliding off his stick. And then the crew wanted to film him on the empty ice shooting the puck into the back of the net with the cameraman behind the goal. They get all set up, LeBrock skates from center ice, he shoots, he ... hits the post! His crew couldn't stop laughing.
