General manager and executive vice president Ken Holland said Tomas Holmstrom saw a back specialist on Tuesday and the injury is not too extensive. The forward is feeling better but will not return until some point in December. - Detroit Free Press

min.png Kurtis Foster (broken left femur) asked coach Jacques Lemaire for permission to take part in the Wild's morning skate on Wednesday. "Usually guys that are injured don't stay with us because they're not ready to come back, but he said it would make him feel good and I said, 'Absolutely,'" explained Lemaire. General manager Doug Risebrough is not saying much on the Niklas Backstrom situation. The goaltender can become a free agent July 1. When asked if the two sides had spoken? "I'm not commenting," said Risebrough. Are they trying to sign him to a contract extension? "I'm not commenting." In net Jaroslav Halak will face Jose Theodore. Theodore will be playing his old team for the first time since October 21, 2006 when the Avs visited Montreal. The Canadiens won 8-5 on that occasion. - TSN

"I feel I need to get back to work," said Rozsival, who has put himself through extra skating of late. "Even if the hip feels better, it's still not strong enough. ott.png Alex Auld will get the start in net Thursday when the Senators host the Maple Leafs. Forward Mike Fisher will make his return to the Sens lineup after missing the past two games with a knee injury. Forward Dean McAmmond who missed the Wednesday's practice with the flu will likely be ready to face Toronto.

Braydon Coburn gives the credit for the team's penalty-kill success to Marty Biron. "Your best penalty killer is your goalie," Coburn said Tuesday. "He's done a good job of stopping runs and making sure if they do have the puck, we've got a good chance of getting it out of the zone right away. Ask any good penalty-killer - the goalie is your best asset back there." - Philadelphia Inquirer

Randy Jones (hip surgery) and Ryan Parent (shoulder surgery) practiced with the Flyers on Tuesday. They pair are getting closer to returning and Jones hopes to play before Christmas, while the club hopes Parent will be back play December 26 against the Blackhawks. - Philadelphia Daily News

van.png Kevin Bieksa will play against the Flames on Thursday, well ahead of schedule. It was thought he would miss 3-4 weeks with a broken foot, he's back after just two. The doctor says he can't make it any worse.
Ryan Johnson will miss 3-5 weeks with a broken index finger and foot. He injured the finger in the last game, his foot had been bothering him since the third game of the year against Washington, he had an x-ray on the foot just in case when he went in to have his finger checked and the extent of the foot injury was discovered.
Steve Bernier is day-to-day with a bruised shoulder and has not skated for the past two days.
Alex Bolduc will make his NHL debut on Thursday and will skate on the fourth line with Mike Brown and Darcy Hordichuk.
Mason Raymond gets moved up to play with Kyle Wellwood and Taylor Pyatt. He was projected as a top-six guy at the start of the season but has struggled as of late and found himself on the fourth line in recent games. - TSN

We're tempted to stay up to watch the Leafs game hmm.gif Though I'm not sure how long I'll last before I'll keel over and need sleep. Until that moment, lets go leafs banana.gif
