The Ducks have had to deal with a cap related situation after Jean-Sebastien Giguere (personal) left the team, he is to return on Sunday against Carolina. The team needed to to make some player moves in order to allow them to recall goaltender David Leneveu. - LA Times

Ryan Carter (flu) did not practice Thursday. Brian Sutherby (groin) skated on alone Thursday although it is doubtful he will play on the weekend. According to Brad Larsen (sports hernia) there is no timetable for his return but the forward did practice on Thursday. - LA Times

bos.png Matt Hunwick has played well while the team has been without Andrew Ference (broken leg) and has made a case to stay in the Bruins' six man defensive rotation. Ference is not expected to be back until some time in January. - Boston Globe

Marco Sturm (post-concussion syndrome) missed his fifth game in a row on Friday. Sturm said he should be back skating soon. - Boston Globe

chi.png The team called Corey Crawford up from AHL's Rockford on Friday to serve as Cristobal Huet's backup while Nikolai Khabibulin (day-to-day - lower body injury) is on the mend. - Media Release

col.png Captain Joe Sakic left Friday's game against the Phoenix Coyotes after playing just one shift in the first period. - TSN

The Avalanche placed defenceman Adam Foote (neck, back and knee injuries) on injured reserve, retroactive to November 22. In a related move, the Avalanche recalled defenceman Aaron MacKenzie from the Lake Erie of the American Hockey League. - TSN

clm.png Forward Derek Dorsett was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday. Kris Russell was recalled from the Syracuse Crunch. - Press Release

dal.png Jere Lehtinen (upper body) and Joel Lundqvist (shoulder) and look to be at least a week away from retuning. The pair skated on Friday. - Dallas Morning News

det.png Darren McCarty is day-to-day after aggravating a groin injury. - Detroit News

flo.png Richard Zednik (elbow) will miss a few weeks but according to head coach Pete DeBoer the veteran will not need surgery. - Miami Herald

The team lost Nathan Horton (deep cut on leg) for an indefinite amount of time being injured on Wednesday. There is no major damage but head coach Pete DeBoer said the position of the cut and the resulting stitches will make playing difficult. "He's out through the weekend," DeBoer said. The team is expected to call up Shawn Matthias from Rochester of the AHL. - Miami Herald

mon.png Head coach Guy Carbonneau says he's sending a message to the Kostitsyn brothers by putting them on the 4th line. "They can't get any lower." Except pressbox, which Carbonneau is not ruling out.
Worthy of note is that Carbonneau is putting Kovalev and Lang together. They enjoyed their most productive season in their respective careers as linemates in Pittsburgh.
Forward Matt D'Agostini will make his season debut, it will be his second NHL game. - TSN

nj.png Devils' Mike Mottau will be back in the lineup on Saturday against the Penguins, John Madden (bruised left ankle) did not travel with the team. - Star Ledger

The team puts Thomas Pock on waivers Saturday. - TSN

nyr.png Brandon Dubinsky is happy with his line of Markus Naslund and Nikolai Zherdev. "The last two games, we haven't spent any time in our zone," Dubinsky said. "Nikky is as dangerous as anybody with the puck. Markus is pretty dangerous himself." - Bergen Record

ott.png Shean Donovan left Thursday's game with an upper body injury and did not return. Defenceman Luke Richardson retired on Friday. - TSN

phi.png Marty Biron is questionable for Saturday's game against the Maple Leafs due to a bruised right shoulder he suffered in a game Friday with the Hurricanes. Jeff Carter was also banged up on Friday but is expected to play on Saturday. - Philadelphia Daily News

Daniel Briere and the Flyers are taking things slow regarding his return. There is a chance he could play Tuesday against the Lightning. "I'm close," Briere said Thursday. "But I'm just not 100 percent there yet and it's better to be safe and healthy. I won't play today, and probably not [Saturday in Toronto] either." - Philadelphia Daily News

Randy Jones (hip surgery) and Ryan Parent (shoulder surgery) practiced with the Flyers on Tuesday. They pair are getting closer to returning and Jones hopes to play before Christmas, while the club hopes Parent will be back play December 26 against the Blackhawks. - Philadelphia Daily News

pho.png Olli Jokinen (shoulder) was injured on Wednesday in Columbus and will miss 2-4 weeks. - Arizona Republic

Mikael Tellqvist has impressed head coach Wayne Gretzky. "He hasn't really played a bad game this year," Gretzky said of Tellqvist. "He's played well each time we asked him to go in, a lot like last year, and we'll see what happens. He's going well, and we need to win hockey games, simple as that.". - Arizona Republic

pitt.png Marc-Andre Fleury skated Friday, he has been battling a suspected leg/groin injury. The goaltender "felt pretty good," according to head coach Michel Therrien but there is no date set for a return. - Post Gazette

tmp.png David Koci will miss 2-4 weeks after breaking his hand during a fight with Rangers' Colton Orr on Wednesday. - Tampa Tribune

tml.png Jason Blake skated with the team on Saturday but is not cleared to play. The club believes he will be cleared for the Los Angeles Kings on Monday. Head coach Ron Wilson liked what he saw out of Andre Deveaux versus Ottawa and he is expected to get 10-12 minutes of ice time again tonight. - TSN

van.png Ryan Johnson will miss 3-5 weeks with a broken index finger and foot. He injured the finger in the last game, his foot had been bothering him since the third game of the year against Washington, he had an x-ray on the foot just in case when he went in to have his finger checked and the extent of the foot injury was discovered.
Steve Bernier did not play Thursday and is day-to-day with a bruised shoulder. - TSN
