Barring some sort of disaster, the kid has the definite potential to make Scott Niedermayer look flat footed

While I agree on Gardiner's skating ability, I feel that Mitera is our No. 1 prospect still, even though he may miss the rest of the season due to injury. He's the complete defensive package and I would be surprised to see he won't be our No. 1 defensemen for many years to come barring career-ending injury.

Definitely a dangerous and stupid thing to do. But there was a lot of taunting of the benches going both ways between the teams (starting with the Americans, I believe of their second goal). Something like that was inevitable to happen, although Tangradi's actions were scary to say the least and just goes to confirm that despite everything, these are still kids playing hockey and some immaturity and poor judgement is going to happen.

Yeah, that game got out of hand for a bit there.

I know from a Canadian point of view, the US is becoming a bit of a hockey rival, especially at the junior stage. You see it with young guys hitting the NHL like Kane and Kessel. Really it is a credit to the program put into place at US Hockey and it is no wonder that the proposed US Olympic team for 2010 is looking to be extremely young, capitalizing on that young strength coming down the pipe.

I'm really hoping that Bobby Ryan might be considered for that team by then.

With the way he's playing, and considering who the GM is, I'd say he's has a great shot.

Good point.
And that GM would love nothing better than to pat himself on the back for his choice of Ryan as second overall in the draft.
Let's hope Eric Tangradi makes him look good as well.

“It is a dream come true,” Tangradi, said. “I try to never look ahead, but if you had asked me ‘in three years, do you think you will be in Ottawa?’ I would say ‘Ottawa? What is that? Are you kidding?’ It has all been unbelievable.”
Most people don’t like spending holidays away from home for the first time. Not Tangradi, who was surrounded by family and friends in Ottawa at the World Junior Championships.
Skating for Team USA for the first time was just one of the many gifts he received for the holidays. Just three weeks before the tournament, Tangradi signed an entry-level contract with the Ducks. This summer, he was named captain of the Belleville Bulls (OHL).
