Aaron Ward (leg injury) will not play on Thursday against Tampa Bay or Saturday against Florida. He did not skate on Tuesday and had a boot on his left leg. - Boston Globe

buff.png Derek Roy (back spasms), Toni Lydman (leg) and Andrew Peters (abdominal strain) did not practice on Tuesday. Head coach Lindy Ruff expects Roy and Lydman be available for Thursday's game in Florida. Craig Rivet (upper body) returned to practice Tuesday and could return Thursday or for Saturday's game in Tampa Bay. - Buffalo News

car.png After leaving Sunday's game against the Ducks in the first period, the Hurricanes announced that goaltender Cam Ward will out at least a week because of a groin injury. Justin Williams who tore his Achilles tendon in September has been skating with the for a few weeks and was medically cleared last week for contact. - Raleigh News and Observer

chi.png Head coach Joel Quenneville has made line changes prior to the game against the Ducks on Wednesday. Martin Havlat is expected to skate on the third line with Dave Bolland and Andrew Ladd. "Everybody has stretches where they're going to be hot and cold," Quenneville said. "When you're not scoring, as long as you're doing things to help your team win, that's what we're looking for. [Havlat's] capable of adding to that. When you do that, scoring will follow." Dustin Byfuglien was on a line with Kris Versteeg and Jonathan Toews and Troy Brouwer and Patrick Kane were on with Patrick Sharp. - Chicago Tribune

Goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin who has a hip/groin injury along with forward Adam Burish (ankle) and defenseman Aaron Johnson (shoulder) all missed practice on Monday. col.png Marek Svatos (ACL surgery) is feeling better. Svatos is skating on his surgically repaired left knee and gaining confidence. "I can feel that the knee is getting better," Svatos said earlier this week. "I'm moving on the ice better. When I'm skating, I don't feel the knee at all." - Rocky Mountain News

clm.png Raffi Torres (ACL surgery) was placed on IR. "I don't think Raffi feels he's helping the team by trying to play through the flare-ups," head coach Ken Hitchcock said. "This way we'll get some good rehab in and get it to where it's more comfortable for him and we'll get him up to speed again. I don't think we are looking at a long-term situation, but he's not able to play his game on a consistent basis. Chris Chelios (fractured shin) practiced for the first time since Sept. 30. He is expected to need another week to recover and could go to Grand Rapids (AHL) for a conditioning stint. "I'm probably going to go play Friday and Saturday (at Grand Rapids) just to get some minutes in and then come back and be ready," he said. - Detroit Free Press

min.png Winger Cal Clutterbuck was a healthy scratch again on Monday. It was the second consecutive game that he has been in the pressbox. Coach Jacques Lemaire said that the 21-year old needed to bring the same effort game in and game out. - Star Tribune
