Well i thought i would try my luck at another thread for us hockey players here at allducks....just thought i would start this one to see where everyone plays and what kind of gear they use so we could come here for questions about rinks or gear and what you would or would not reccomend...its been awhile since we have had some "on the rink" talk here so ill start her off...

where i play....idaho ice world and a frozen pond by my house

gear:
rbk 5k pumps (skates) /love them
rbk 7k elbow pads/like these pads because they are long and i use tiny shoulder pads
gear 10k pants/like these because of all the padding and multi-tighting system
mission shin pads (not sure which model they are)/ they are ok but IMO shin pads are shin pads
sherwood classic shoulders/have tryed a couple different one and love these just because they are thin and small
bauer XXX gloves 10'' /like these because they are tiny and i dont like big gloves
itech helmet/ its ok not a great one but it does the job

so try and give a brief discription on if you like the gear item and explain why or why not..

Anaheim Hockey Club of Corona (roller)
and, soon, also Aliso Viejo Ice Palace

Quite honestly, I don't know all of what I'm currently wearing.

Off the top of my head:

Sticks - TPS Response, Rick Nash model & RBK 4K, Pavel Datsuyk model
Skates - CCM Tacks (1052 roller, and 10XX, IIRC, for ice)
Gloves - Bauer XX
Elbows - CCM 10.0

All the rest, I'd have to look at to tell you what it is ... and frankly, some of it might be older than certain AD members. I know for fact my shoulders are older than my oldest child ... and I'm pretty sure the same goes for my roller skates, roller pants, and my two backup sticks.

I play at The Ice Sports Forum in Brandon(Tampa)
Sometimes at the JP Igloo in Ellenton

Skates: CCM 4.0 Goalie Skates - I love them! I used Bauer XIV before and they were complete garbage - NOTE - If you're wanting RBK Pumps, CCM skates are the exact same skate, just minus the pumps.
Leg Pads: RBK 5K White/Red/Black - I personally love them, but they're lower end and you can't find that model anymore. I highly recommend RBK, especially if you like Koho
Blocker: RBK 5K White/Red/Black - Same as above
Glove: RBK Premier II Black/White (I think) - Great glove. Some how I ended up with a pro model glove, it's very nice.
Helmet: Itech - Don't ask me the model, idk. It's a decent helmet, especially if you get hit in the head a lot. Only problem is the padding keeps coming unglued
Chest Pad: TPS Something - Piece of CRAP! Stick with RBK or Sherwood chest pads. More stable.
Pants: CCM Something - Good pants, very protective!
Stick: RBK 4K Joseph 26in - Decent stick, good for the money, though I wouldn't recommend it. They are kinda breakable, but I do have a tendency to beat the snot out of my sticks when angry... I would recommend the RBK 6K.

Yea, I think that's all my equipment...

nice...i forgot to add my sticks...i have a few but the ones i use are:
bauer apollo(comp): a great stick for the price $30 and i have no complaints about it IMO bauer makes the best sticks
easton S17 (comp): first high end stick i have ever bought and its a piece of crap....the tip of the toe split after about a month...ill never again buy a easton stick...

....also if anyone has questions fell free to ask in this thread...just missed talking about playing around here...

I play at Anaheim Ice, Rookie league.

Stick: Nike Bauer one90 Naslund. Great stick for a hundred bucks. Very light and durable.
Skates: Nike Bauer XIII, $90 and they're okay. I added some nice insoles and wear ankle braces inside because of injury.
Leg/elbow Pads: Nike Bauer one50. They're nice, light, easy to wash and they're not huge. I also have some Mission ones that seem too bulky.
Glove: Nike Bauer Vapor. Cheap, horrible. I hate the flared cuffs. I'll probably grab some reebok ones next time that don't do that. the flare sometimes gets caught on my shoulder pad.
Helmet: Nike Bauer 8500, one step down from the pro one. Honestly it's the only one that fit my huge noggin comfortably.
Chest/Shoulder: Easton Synergy S17. Love em, they're thick, light and dry out nice.
Pants: Bauer one90's. I bought a large but could have gotten away with medium. They're huge and I'm a normal large size guy.

I play at a team called the Untamed Panthers, which is part of the Zoetermeer Panters

Stick: CCM Vector 6.0
Skates: CCM Vector 3.0
Elbow pads: Profect Force 88
Shin pads: Hespeler Xlite
Gloves: Rbk HG3K 14"
Helmet: Jofa
Chest/Shoulder: Hespeler Max
Pants: CCM 452 Tacks
And it all fits into my huge "CCM 100% Hockey" bag. wink.gif

I like all of my CCM and Rbk gear. First thing I need to replace are my Chest protector and my Elbow pads. They suck and are too big (bought them from someone who didn't play anymore). I love the warning tag in my Elbow pads: "CAUTION: Hockey is a dangerous sport. This protective device is not designed to provide complete protection from injury. Injury may occur despite this protective device." Protection with such a tag in it should be forbidden wink.gif

You might be right! I found the same tag in my new Shoulder Pads, the CCM V08, wich I got for my birthday. Their great! At first I thought they where a little stiff and hard to move in. But after like three seconds on the ice it seemed like a perfect fit!

Anaheim Ice, primarily. Other than that it's just travel teams.

Skates - Bauer One90's w/ LS 2 holder and blade (instead of the LS Power)
Stick - Warrior Dolomite, 100 flex, Federov curve
Gloves - Bauer One90's

Those are the only things that really matter to me. I also use an old Sherwood Chest Protector because I prefer the light weight over the added protection. It's about 10 years old. Yeah... it sucks when I block shots with that thing.

That's practically new compared to mine. I think it's 16 or 17 years old. I can't remember the manufacturer and I'm not sure that the name hasn't just completely worn off.

And, since it's been a while for me ... I'm now playing at AV Ice Palace in addition to Anaheim Hockey Club (now The Rinks - Corona Inline).

To be fair, you have a couple of years on me. smile.gif I've had it since I was about 17. Earlier than that and I would have out grown it.

I hope it's ok that I revive this thread.

In SoCal, I mainly play at the Iceoplex in Escondido, but I occasionally play at the UTC.
In Boulder, I play at the Rec Center on campus, and am planning on playing down at Boulder Valley Ice once I my wrist heals.

Gear:
Some old Graf Elbow Pads(need to be replaced)
Mission Fuel WS Knight Rider Gloves
Mission Shin Guards (Purchased at Play-it-Again)
Easton Breezers
RBK 3K skates
CCM helmet w/ cage
RBK HSSE Sidney Crosby stick
RBK 3K Datsyuk stick

Obviously, I don't have the best gear. Most of it is either too small or too big. I got almost all of it at a Play-It-Again in SoCal where alot of the brand names were fairly rubbed off. I'm looking into new sticks right now, although that's the only piece of gear that's actually semi-recent. tongue.gif

ive been using a warrior bentley stick for the last few months and i loooooove it so i got another one....but i got an inter. because i use such a short stick and with the seniors i have to cut it down so much that it goes from a 90 to 95 flex all the way to around a 110....since i play wing and primarily use wrister/snap shots i wanted the whippier flex....i love it and would say anyone else who is shorter/plays with small sticks give it a shot....

Getting NEW gear!

RBK Premier 3 7K Sr. Leg Pads Turco Break - Giguere Colors 32+1
RBK Premier 3 9K Int. Blocker
RBK Premier 3 9K Int. Glove

I'm going to be getting the pro authentic goal sticks that match the equipment that are in Giguere colors for Christmas, hopefully. I'm so stoked for my new pads biggrin.gif

I'm about 5'10"-5'11" and have been debating about getting an Int. stick for a while now... I usually trade off between the Crosby stick and Datsyuk. It sometimes just feels better to go with one over the other, which sucks because it's only after playing 10-15 mins that I really realize it... :/

I see someone else is a fan of RBK equipment... I love their sticks and skates, I need to start picking up some of their protective gear. Any skaters know anything about quality of this? I was in the store the other day and the only equipment they had was this really awful Sidney Crosby line of RBK.

Honestly at your height, the int stick probably depends more on your weight than height. That said, my wife uses an intermediate (she's in the 5'4" range) because she's able to get flex on the stick - which she wouldn't be able to do with a Sr. stick.

IMHO, the ability to flex - in essence, create leverage - would be the reason to consider the intermediate.

As for moving from stick to stick, I do it all the time in games. Aside from different curves and flexes, one is quite a bit longer than the other. If I'm playing more of a defensive role, I go with the longer one (poke checks, passing lanes, etc) and if we're pushing for a goal, I go with the shorter one because I tend to be the guy in front of the net, which means tips and a lot of pucks at my feet.

Then again, I suck.

Ha. Probably better than me.

It's weird though. Sometimes I'll use my longer stick and I'll be able to stick handle past defenders better than with the shorter stick, which is sometimes weird. It's inconsistent and makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong with my game. I also need to try some different flexes to see what works better.

i like heavy sticks

these new sticks are too light and break too easy or bend snap

im a small guy but i have power

the balance of weight and toughness

last longer and fits my 90% accuracy and good puck handling

plus when in game its easy to snap the opponents stick biggrin.gif

agian if anyone is or near la habra
hit me up
we can practice at the local roller rink

i can teach people if you need help on goalie practice
or want to work on your speed puck handeling or shooting accuracy free ofcorse and for fun for me and beneficial for you

im only 25 but ive played hockey for 15-16 years

Have you tried the $20 TPS wood sticks? Great flex, nice weight and good curves on the Nash and Perry models.
