Sanderson, a defenceman with the Whitby Dunlops, died early yesterday in Hamilton General Hospital. He had been in a coma and on life support since his head struck the ice during a fight in a AAA senior league game Dec. 12 in Brantford.

Very tragic. Condolences to family, friends, and team.

This is exactly why George Parros doesn't take off his helmet or try to remove his opponent's when he fights.

And may this be a lesson taken to heart for each player to make sure his helmet fits properly, and to respect other players' heads.
