Thrashers leading goal scorer Bryan Little is out indefinitely with bruised ribs... Thrashers coach John Anderson said he didn't know how long Little would be out but that rib injuries typically take weeks not days to heal. Little began Sunday tied for seventh in the NHL with 19 goals. - Atlanta Journal Constitution
The Flames had an option skate on Monday and only Curtis McElhinney and James Vandermeer, who is still recovering from a broken leg. Both players were working with assistant coaches while the rest of the team came in for individual workouts. - TSN
The Flames are tops in their division and 3rd overall in the West. However, Calgary is yet to beat San Jose, Detroit or Chicago: three of the top four teams in the Conference. The Flames had a humbling loss to the Sharks in San Jose over six weeks ago. Since then, they are 14-4-3. That 6-1 loss was officially their wake up call. A fun day in San Francisco scheduled for the next day was cancelled and the team came back and used the days off to change their defensive play and it has worked. Tuesday's test will be a good test to see how far they've come. - TSN
Brent Sutter has coached his son, Brandon, many times. But he's never coached against him. That will change Tuesday night when Brent's Devils face Brandon's Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, N.C. - Star Ledger
The Hawks have yet to confirm that Patrick Kane has a high sprain to his right ankle, and it's likely they won't now that the NHL says teams aren't required to disclose injuries. If Kane does have a high ankle sprain, it's potentially a bad scenario. Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby missed 28 games last season with a high ankle sprain. Right now the Hawks are listing Kane as day-to-day, and the plan is for him to accompany the team on its three-game road trip that starts Tuesday night in Arizona against the Coyotes. - Daily Herald Times
Cam Barker was a healthy scratch... Adam Burish returned to the lineup after missing 16 games with a broken toe... With a goal and assist, Martin Havlat has 8 points in the last five games... Patrick Sharp's goal was his 20th of the season. - Daily Herald Times
Adam Foote is the latest Avs regular to fall victim to injury. He left Sunday's game against Minnesota with an arm ailment. There was no further word about how serious the injury was. Also seen after the game, coming out of the team X-ray room holding X-rays, was Avs winger Darcy Tucker. Tucker appeared to have injured himself, possibly a hand, in a late-game skirmish. - Denver Post
Landon Wilson (ribs) joined Brenden Morrow (knee), Sergei Zubov (hip), Joel Lundqvist (shoulder) and Fabian Brunnstrom (high ankle sprain) on the injured list. - Dallas Morning News
Defenceman Derek Meech needed about a dozen stitches to close a gash on his upper lip after he was hit in the face by a puck Saturday night. It was his first game in the lineup as a defenceman since his first three games this season, having been used as a forward in between. "My teeth are sore, but they're OK." - Detroit Free Press
Shawn Horcoff is questionable (likely) with back spasms while Marc Pouliot is a game time decision (concussion) and is also likely to go... Dwayne Roloson will get the start in goal for tonight's contest against the Islanders. - TSN
Benoit Pouliot was scratched for the fourth time in six games as head coach Jacques Lemaire continues to go with Krys Kolanos. "Shows me more," Lemaire said, adding it's a "maturity" issue with Pouliot, goalless since Nov. 15. - Star Tribune
Goaltender Carey Price skated early Monday morning for a few minutes in a track suit, no equipment. Price did not practice Saturday, undergoing his fourth straight day of therapy for a lower body injury. Head coach Guy Carbonneau said on Sunday that if Price feels good enough to skate early next week, he may be able to back up Halak Wednesday in New York or start Thursday vs. Toronto. - TSN
Captain Saku Koivu did some light shooting, skating and passing drills with assistant coaches Kirk Muller and Roland Melanson for 30 minutes before the team's optional skate started on Monday. Koivu skated lightly on his own before the rest of the team Saturday morning. No further estimate for his return as he has not reached the point where he can skate at full speed and strength. - TSN
Predators fans waiting for a big trade to help turn around the team's fortunes probably shouldn't hold their breath. The Predators are far more likely to alter the lineup with promotions from Milwaukee than they are via trade, General Manager David Poile said. - Tennessean
Brent Sutter has coached his son, Brandon, many times. But he's never coached against him. That will change Tuesday night when Brent's Devils face Brandon's Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, N.C. - Star Ledger
Doug Weight is a game time decision while Rick DiPietro will get the start in goal against the Oilers this evening. - TSN
Henrik Lundqvist is expected back in net Monday after missing Saturday's game with a stomach bug. - Newsday
Rangers coach Tom Renney switched his line combinations at Sunday's hour-long practice, putting right wing Ryan Callahan with Scott Gomez and Markus Naslund, moving Petr Prucha to Chris Drury's right wing with Nigel Dawes and putting Korpikoski on Brandon Dubinsky's left wing with Nikolai Zherdev. - Bergen Record
Seven Flyers were either injured or played through injury during the trip out west: Simon Gagne, Joffrey Lupul, Josh Gratton, Darroll Powe, Matt Carle, Randy Jones and Arron Asham. - Comcast SportsNet.com
The Flyers hope to get Simon Gagne (shoulder) back Tuesday. - Philadephia Inquirer
Coyotes goalie Ilya Bryzgalov registered 32 saves, falling to 4-2-1 against the Ducks since Phoenix acquired him on waivers early last season. - Orange County Register
Sidney Crosby has 50 points (15-35) in 39 games, but only one point (an assist) while going minus-three in the last three games. He has three points (1-2) in the last six, six points in the last 10 (2-4) and 16 points, but only two goals in the last 16. - New York Post
Defenceman Douglas Murray is expected to be back in the lineup when the Sharks open a three-game trip in Calgary on Tuesday night. Murray, who has missed the past two games with an unspecified lower body injury, took part in Sunday's practice and Coach Todd McLellan pronounced him fit to play afterward. - Contra Costa Times
Centre Andy McDonald (fractured ankle) is close to returning. He will practise with the Blues early this week and could be playing bythe end of the week. - Post Dispatch
Jason LaBarbera will get the start in goal on Wednesday in Edmonton... Mats Sundin skated with Pavol Demitra's linemates Kyle Wellwood and Mason Raymond at practice on Monday. Demitra was given the day off because of a slight groin injury. He will practice on Tuesday and play Wednesday evening... Goalie Roberto Luongo skated for 40 minutes before practice on Monday with Ian Clark... Head coach Alain Vigneault said that when Mats Sunin gets into the lineup, he will be in the top 3 shooters with Kyle Wellwood and Pavol Demitra. - TSN
The Canucks re-assigned goaltender Cory Schneider to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL on Monday. - Release
