TSN's Ice Chips

Milan Lucic did not practice on Wednesday. Coach Claude Julien confirmed he suffered an injury in the 1-0 loss to Minnesota, however, he did not provide any details about the injury. Lucic will be re-evaluated on Thursday. Shane Hnidy (swollen eye) did not practice. Patrice Bergeron (concussion) and Marco Sturm (lower body) remain on injured reserve. Aaron Ward (charley horse) should return tonight. - Boston Globe

With the return of Craig Rivet and Toni Lydman to the lineup, rookie blue-liner Chris Butler is likely headed back to the AHL. Butler is a team-best plus-five and the Sabres are 5-2-2 in the nine games he's played since his promotion in December. - Buffalo News

Patrick Kane (high-ankle sprain) practiced with the team Wednesday in preparation for Thursday night's game against the Colorado Avalanche and is considered day-to-day. Chicago have scored 11 goals in the two games Kane has missed and lead the league in scoring at 3.68 goals per game. - Chicago Tribune

Andrew Raycroft will get a second straight start in goal for the Avalanche on Thursday night against Chicago. Raycroft is 7-1-0 on the season. Forward Ian Laperriere (back) will not play. - Denver Post

Forward Steve Sullivan, who has missed almost two years with back problems that required two surgeries, has targeted Saturday's game against Chicago for his return. - The Tennessean

Martin Brodeur, who is working out off ice since undergoing surgery to repair a torn biceps tendon, is still on target to return in late February. "Every day he's doing his therapy and well as off-ice conditioning," GM Lou Lamoriello told the Star Ledger. "Everything is completely on schedule. Nothing but positive. With Olaf Kolzig still bothered by an upper-body injury, goaltender Karri Ramo could see his first start of the season Friday. Kolzig had targeted Thursday as a possible return date as a backup to Mike Smith, who has made 10 consecutive starts. I just tuned in a few minutes ago and saw Brad standing at center ice and thought they had thrown him into the starting lineup!! Turns out, all the players are standing on the ice while they trot out another gaggle of Canada's finest for the crowd.

I think May's first shift was on a power play. He was still on the ice when the PP expired and the Habs came in and scored their 2nd goal. It's going to be a looong night for the Leafs!

Tuned in for a bit to see May Day in Blue. Habs did a great job with the pregame festivities celebrating the Toronto/Montreal rivalry. You rarely see players actually watching and interested. Had 5 or 6 alums from each team. Very respectful of their rivals, classy indeed.

Sad to see May's 1st shift on a PP that gave up a shorty. Bad coaching IMHO. Seemed to get a lot of ice time before I switched games.
