I voted NO, but that is based on Bob Murray having enough guts to press the issue with him to at least get an indication that he would stay in Anaheim if he indeed is going to play in the NHL next year.
I would not put the temptation to throw Scotty under the bus in order to reap some assets ahead of him deciding to retire as a Duck.

minimum that we should get. high first rder (top 10), a solid goalie prospect, and a top-2 defensive prospect
or a low first rder (10-25), a second rder, top-2 defensive prospect, solid goalie prospect and a 3rd liner signed past next yr.

I agree and would add: I don't think the Ducks can afford to throw in the towel on the season. The next two games and first handful on the road trip will tell a lot about if the team is still in the mix. If they lay an egg in the next 5 games, then maybe be sellers.
If they're still in the mix, there's no way I would trade Scott ... even at the risk of him walking away for nothing. We can always go after a UFA and not have to give up assets -- or "get him for nothing."

Anaheim's chances of getting a top 10 1st round pick is rather slim. More than slim, in fact. It's incredibly unlikely. With Niedermayer's contract, the teams that are going to want him are going to be playoff teams with Cup hopes. These are not teams that are going to have high 1st round picks, unless they are lucky enough to have a 1st round pick from another team.
Anaheim doesn't need a goalie prospect, and a defensive prospect is likely going to take time to develop. In other words, trading Niedermayer accomplishes very little unless for the near future and unless, as l&g pointed out, he's hinted that he will move to another team next season. 432j put it very well - Anaheim can't afford to throw in the towel right now. They are still in the mix, and how can the players trust Murray if he's willing to throw in the towel when they still a team very much in the playoff picture? If Niedermayer retires, they can make a bid for a good UFA, and all they have to spend is money.
Rooch20, it's a slap in the face to Niedermayer to trade him and expect him to return to the Ducks.
