TSN's Ice Chips

Phil Kessel, sidelined the last 2-3 weeks, is expected to be in uniform tonight when the Bruins face the Senators in Ottawa. Shawn Thornton and Aaron Ward should also be in the lineup. - Boston Globe/Herald

The Flames had an optional skate Tuesday morning, ahead of tonight's game against the Canucks, and none of them came to the rink. - TSN

Robyn Regehr and Cory Sarich are out of tonight's contest with lower body injuries. Suspected injuries are knee for Regehr and foot/ankle for Sarich. - TSN

Coach Paul Maurice said after practice Monday that goalie Cam Ward will make his 27th straight start Tuesday night when the Hurricanes play the New York Islanders. - Herald-Sun

Marty Turco practiced Monday, but he probably will not play tonight. Matt Climie should get his second start. Brian Sutherby (upper body) is expected to return to action and will probably be on a line with Mark Parrish. Trevor Daley will not play again this season because of a sore knee. - Dallas Morning News

D Brian Rafalski missed his fourth game with a groin injury Monday. He skated for about an hour earlier in the day and is expected to return Thursday when Detroit hosts Nashville. Coach Mike Babcock said Andreas Lilja (concussion) is feeling better and could be ready for the playoffs. - Detroit Free Press/News

The Oilers host the Kings on Tuesday and forward Patrick O'Sullivan will face his old teammates from LA for the first time. - TSN

Defenceman Nick Schultz did not practice Monday and is doubtful for tonight's game because of a head/eye injury suffered Sunday in Detroit. - Star Tribune

According to reports, defenceman Mathieu Schneider joined the team on the flight to New York on Monday night, prompting speculation that he might play during the team's two-game road trip in against the Rangers and Bruins. Schneider had an Monday, but there is no estimate on how long he may be out of the lineup. - RDS/Montreal Gazette/TSN

Andrei Kostitsyn and Matt D'Agostini will play against the Rangers on Tuesday. Gregory Stewart and Georges Laraque will be healthy scratches. Carey Price will start in goal. - RDS

Patrik Elias (leg muscle tightness) and D Niclas Havelid (lower-body soreness) skated lightly Monday, but won’t play tonight. Elias, who is believed to be nursing a groin injury, will miss his fourth game in a row. - Bergen Record

Defenceman Bruno Gervais left practice early after apparently injuring a shoulder, though coach Scott Gordon didn't believe it was serious. Veteran forwards Doug Weight and Dean McAmmond both missed practice because of illness. Mark Streit (groin strain) returned to practice but forward Kyle Okposo (groin strain) did not. Gordon said three forwards would be summoned from Bridgeport for Tuesday night's game. - Newsday

Nik Antropov didn't practice Monday but said an MRI on his left knee showed no structural damage following a collision with Boston's Milan Lucic on Saturday. Antropov will skate this morning, and coach John Tortorella indicated he thinks the winger will play. If Antropov is in the lineup, he'll likely open with Scott Gomez and Sean Avery while Ryan Callahan skates with Chris Drury and Markus Naslund. - New York Daily News/Post

Claude Giroux underwent tests yesterday at Pennsylvania Hospital to find out why he has been suffering from stomach pains the last two weeks. The tests revealed he had acid reflux. Giroux missed yesterday’s practice, but he will be in the lineup tonight against Florida. Scott Hartnell, one of four Flyers with at least 30 goals this season, also missed yesterday’s practice. Hartnell is suffering from pink eye but is also expected to play tonight. - Philadelphia Inquirer

Brad May will not play in New Jersey on Tuesday. The Leafs will put him in for his 1,000th NHL game against his former team, the Sabres, on Wednesday in Toronto. - TSN

Pavol Demitra may get flipped back to the Sundin-Kessler line for tonight's contest against the Flames. That line had dried up a bit late in the road trip and Sundin and Demitra have been a huge liability defensively so they were split up for the last couple of games. - TSN

Rookie goaltender Simeon Varlamov is expected to start tonight. - Washington Post
