I think Tortorella is letting Sean Avery know that he does not approve of the way he's conducted himself and that such antics will cost him ice time. Play my way or don't play at all, that's the message Sean Avery should be getting from this decision.

Rangers have been called for a retaliation penalty, give up a shorthanded goal and then get called for a Too Many Men on the Ice penalty in the first 9:27 of the game. Not a good way to start for New York.
