I think Tortorella is letting Sean Avery know that he does not approve of the way he's conducted himself and that such antics will cost him ice time. Play my way or don't play at all, that's the message Sean Avery should be getting from this decision.

Rangers have been called for a retaliation penalty, give up a shorthanded goal and then get called for a Too Many Men on the Ice penalty in the first 9:27 of the game. Not a good way to start for New York.

TSN's Ice Chips

After winning only six of 20 faceoffs during the series, Ducks centre Petteri Nokelainen was a healthy scratch for Game 4 against the Sharks. He was replaced in the lineup by Ryan Carter. - LA Times

Forwards Daymond Langkow, Craig Conroy and Rene Bourque all took the ice for Flames practice on Friday, however all remain questionable for Saturday’s game against the Blackhawks.
Conroy and Bourque both skated on a line with Andre Roy who will not play in Game 5 due to a suspension. Langkow skated with protection on his injured right hand. - TSN

Blackhawks’ Dustin Byfuglien was not on the ice for practice Friday. Head coach Joel Quenville said he was “fine.” Troy Brouwer took his spot on the third line. - TSN

The Flyers remain up-beat heading into Game 5 against the Penguins tonight, despite being down 3-1. The Flyers took 46 shots on Penguins goalie Marc-Andre Fleury in Game 4 and feel that they controlled the pace of the game in second half. - Philadelphia Inquirer

Penguins’ forward Petr Sykora was replaced in the lineup by forward Miroslav Satan in Game 5 Thursday. Sykora is suffering from the effects of a shoulder injury. It was Satan’s first game with the Penguins since March 3rd when he was waived and sent to the minors for salary cap purposes. - Philadelphia Daily News

Forward Taylor Pyatt skated on his own and then joined the Canucks’ practice for 20 minutes. He remains on bereavement leave following the death of his fiancé. Defenceman Willie Mitchell was given an extra day off while Sami Salo did not practice but will likely be back on the ice Monday. - TSN
