After missing the final three games of the Ducks first round series, centre Petteri Nokelainen returned to practice on Thursday. Head coach Randy Carlyle hopes to have him available at some point during their second round series with the Red Wings. - LA Times

The Bruins' blueline will get a boost in Game 1 against the Hurricanes as Andrew Ference is expected to return to the lineup Friday after missing the entire first round series with the Canadiens with a lower body injury. - Boston Globe

Blackhawks captain Jonathan Toews played only 13 minutes during Thursday's Game 1 loss to the Canucks. He was minus-2 and won only 3 of 11 faceoffs leading to speculation that Toews may be injured or ill. - Daily Herald Times

Defenceman Brian Rafalski will not play in the first two games of the Red Wings series with the Anaheim Ducks. Chris Chelios will take his spot in the lineup. - TSN

Red Wings defenceman Andreas Lilja skated at practice Thursday, but is not expected to be in the lineup Friday against the Ducks. Dan Cleary was ill and unable to practice. - Detroit News

The Red Wings are being extremely secretive about forward Kris Draper's injury, stating only it's an 'upper body injury.' Head coach Mike Babcock does not want Draper to become a target due to his injury. - Detroit Free Press

Alex Ovechkin returned to the ice after skipping Thursday's practice. The media tried to press him on rumours floated by a Russian journalist that he is hobbled by a lower body injury. Of course, Ovechkin denied suffering from any injury.
It is worth noting that a few days ago Ovechkin flew in his personal trainer from the Moscow Dynamo, who only helps him get in shape or tends to injuries.
Also, Thursday's practice focused on breaking down Pittsburgh's systems, which was a mandatory practice, yet Ovechkin was excused.
One more point: Ovechkin's icetime was lower in the final two games of the opening round. - TSN
