Rod Brind'Amour took a puck in the face early in overtime in Game 7 on Thursday and did not return to the game. The captain suffered a deep cut over his right eye, but there was no damage to the eye, no evidence of a concussion, and Brind'Amour should be good to go in the series opener against the Pens on Monday in Pittsburgh. - News Observer
Chicago will have five days off between games by the time they play Game 1 Sunday in Detroit. One of the biggest beneficiaries of the down time is Patrick Sharp, who missed the final five games of the regular season with a left knee injury. The veteran winger has played in all 12 of the Hawks' postseason games and said the knee is "pretty close" to being 100 percent. - Chicago Tribune
Chris Chelios likely will open the series as a healthy scratch. He has played in four playoff games. "Hopefully at some point I will get in, but if Tomas Holmstrom continues to slump, Dan Cleary might see more net-front time on the power play," said Chelios. "Maybe that's something we have to consider if some guys don't start tipping some in there," said head coach Mike Babcock. - Detroit Free Press

Would have, could have, should have.
We didn't quite have it all together, and our lucky bounces weren't enough to make up for it. At least we have a team whose future looks bright, and we have next season to look forward to. Not sure how Canadians are feeling now that all their teams have been booted. I suppose they can cheer for their individual hometown players if they totally haven't lost interest.

I hope the Hawks can buckle down and contain the Wings but there would be a certain amount of pride in knowing how difficult a time we gave the Wings so they don't sail to the finals and potentially win.
