Hurricanes’ Rod Brind’Amour skated with the team Sunday and has declared himself healthy and ready to play in Game 1 against the Penguins. The Hurricanes captain took a puck in the face during overtime of Game 7 with the Bruins leaving him with a deep laceration on his right eyebrow and a black eye. - News Observer

Forward Adam Burish narrowly missed a severe injury in Game 1 after a skate blade scraped his throat leaving nothing more than a pink line under his beard. He did not require stitches and did not leave the game. - Chicago Tribune
