TSN's Ice Chips

car.png Forward Erik Cole took the morning skate Thursday prior to Game 2 of the team's series with the Penguins, but Tuomo Ruutu was not on the ice. Head coach Paul Maurice said Cole looked like he usually does in morning skate and will see how he seems when he comes back to rink tonight at game time. Ruutu still says he's a game-time decision - TSN

Projected Lines vs. Penguins

Forwards:
LaRose - Staal - Whitney
Walker - Cullen - Jokinen
Samsonov - Brind'Amour - Eaves
Bayda - Helminen - Dwyer

Defence:
Seidenberg - Pitkanen
Gleason - Corvo
Babchuk - Wallin

Goaltender:
Ward

chi.png Sammy Pahlsson, Matt Walker, Duncan Keith and Nikolai Khabibulin did not practice today. Khabibulin is the only suprise, as Keith hasn't practiced since Friday, and Pahlsson and Walker haven't practiced since the first round. Martin Havlat skated and looked fine. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane were together for most of practice, even through they were split up for most of Game 2. - TSN

Forwards:
Kane - Toews - Brouwer
Ladd - Bolland - Havlat
Versteeg - Pahlsson - Byfuglien
Eager - Burish - Sharp

Defence:
Seabrook - Keith
Campbell - Hjalmarsson
Barker - Walker

Goaltender:
Khabibulin

det.png Kirk Maltby heard he would be back in the lineup for Game 3 against the Blackhawks on Friday, but he didn't fully believe it until he heard it from head coach Mike Babcock. The 36-year-old forward was one of a small number of Wings who skated on Wednesday, while the rest of the team took the day off to rest. Maltby has been a healthy scratch the last three games. Babcock didn't reveal what lineup changes would occur as a result of Maltby being back in, but it's quite possible that Justin Abdelkader will sit. - Detroit Free Press

pitt.png Forward Matt Cooke will not be suspended for a knee-on-knee hit on Hurricanes forward Erik Cole that took place during Game 1 of the Eastern Conference final on Monday. It was not yet known if Cooke will be fined by the National Hockey League office. - Post Gazette

QUOTE
"It's called the 'Geno' for a reason," Bylsma said, suggesting the faceoff win, which Malkin pushed forward into the corner, was a set play. "He pushed through, and he went and got (the puck) himself. After that, he takes it to the net, gets it on his backhand, and there's not a lot of room there where he played. There's not many players in the world that can make a play like that."
