Interesting read. Ducks top five prospects are defensemen, which doesn't bode well for filling out the top 6 forward spots from within. Interesting too that there is so much talk about filling defense spots from outside when there is surprising depth from within.

I would not give too much on this rankings. Deschamps has def. 2nd line material and is a C/LW. Beleskey will also be a borderliner 2nd liner. Brittan can turn out like Tangradi next season. And please don't forget Bonino, who, talentwise is great. So I'm not so disappointed with the offensive prospects right now. Sure we don't have the top-end talent in the pipe right now. But lets see what the draft will bring. We will get a nice prospect maybe two in the first round.
That we have more defensive prospect is good IMO. Gardiner, Mitera, Mikkelsson will give us some freedom in the next seasons. Salcido is maybe done IMO. If he can't make the club after the camp he will never get a real shot.
Prospectwise next season will be really exciting. Mitera will show how good he can be (I still believe he can be a top 3 defenseman in the near future), Gardiner will show what we can expect and in offense all of our better prospects will show what they can do. Honestly right now they should really push hard. After next season there will be plenty of space open and they will get a good shot to play in Anaheim.

I think Mikkelson will find his grove next season in a bottom-pairing role. As for Salcido, one of him or Festerling needs to be traded this summer. Neither one will feel happy about going back to the minors and to a completely different city for the third year in a row. One of those two needs to be on the opening night roster and the other needs to be moved. Festerling may have the inside track because of the amount of games he's played but that also gives him better trade value. I'm rooting for Salsa simply because he's a SoCal boy but it's time to pick which one of the two we want going forward.
