I'll start it off on a selfish note: my kid has his first-ever SCAHA tryout on Saturday. Any advice? TIA.

I suspect there might be others on AD with kids playing in tournaments this weekend, who also deserve congratulations. So, congrats in advance!

I love the playoff "beards" a lot of those boys are sporting.
Nice touch, and good job, guys!

I thought you were opposed to the lumping together of threads?

But do we really need to start a threads for every youth hockey league?
I can, if you think it's a better idea... it just doesn't seem like it will be info that is referenced back to like ducks tidbits are.

Honestly, I felt bad about using SCAHA as soon as I saw Ahti's post.
I'm would have changed the name if I could have ... and I like how this is been modified. So thanks for the suggestion and thanks to whoever made the alteration.

Looking through team assignments for my son's division.
Looks like he will be playing against a bit of a celebrity.... Wonder if Timmy will do interviews in the Squirt locker room?

Best of luck.
My son's team won silver in the AnaheimICE tournament on Monday. He's still guarding the trophy with his life.

My son is at Anaheim Ice again. I know we've got at least one other AD family there.
Who all is playing?

got off to a bit of an ugly start.
lost 14-1 last night
then today lost 3-0...
BUT we played well today, and definitely COULD beat that team...
The game last night however, that was just ugly.
Got another game at 3 today, We'll see how it goes.
Honestly overall, the individual play is pretty good, it's a problem with teamwork and positioning... Then again we have a 14 player roster with only 2 kids that have ever played travel hockey... So I think we are just seeing the learning curve that most of us were expecting anyway.
Also... MY GOD 11 & 12 year olds can lay some monstrous hits!!!
----------
The craziest is the Anaheim Wildcats team that is DOMINATING the Mite A division... They could probably play up to Squirt A and still be competitive...
Their Scores thus far:
19-0
17-0
They have only allowed 2 shots on goal... total.

Tallinn Purikad - Lahti Pelicans 2000 Ducks 5:5 (3:0;1:2;1:3)

We have a Canadian coach - Vladimir de Baghy this season. Interesting times...

I'm glad it was a better game today. With that many "new" players I think you'll see some quick improvement. It's not where you start...

We'll see how it plays out. It has been crazy so far, but there are two other very talented teams in that division: LAHC and (man I hate to say this) the Jr. Kings.
It's not how you start...

Anti, you have no clue how cool it is to see youth hockey reports from Finland.
Best of luck with the season.

It's like having a lot of tools all mixed up in a toolbox... you can see their purpose and know they are well built... you just have to organize them and use them properly...
I will say it was crazy to see my 59 Lbs. 4'6" son line up for face-offs... and win them... against the 5'9" 130 Lbs. monster the Jaguars had centering one of their lines.
On a side note... Talked to Jason Blake and Teemu Selanne at the rink today... Teemu I've see a bunch over there but I actually had to stop and think "Is that really Blake?" then it occurred to me that no one else looks like that... I mean, the dude is damn near albino. LOL
I didn't realize Blake, Like Selanne has a son who is a Jr Duck... Very cute and very cool to see both of them just as excited for the coming SCAHA season as the rest of us hockey-crazed parents.

Said "hi" to both as well. I felt bad for Selanne as he was bombarded for autographs as his son's team was in a 1-1 game, but he was typical Teemu. Had the same reaction as you to Blake the other night. He seemed very nice as well. In a couple of weeks they'll be standing in the same spot, but only in full gear themselves.
My son's team passed their biggest test to this point in the tournament. It wasn't his best game, but he still played well. One more tomorrow and then (hopefully) the championship game on Monday.
