Remove Beauch and Rob?

They have made no commitment to the team and there is no reason to include them until they do.
(Scotty & Marchant have at least stated their desire to play for the ducks)

I know a lot of people want them to come back, but in a very realistic sense, at this point it's sort of like including Hossa or the Sedins in the list until they sign elsewhere.

I thought that as well, but could find nothing on Sbisa but what I printed.

Anyone that has any other info with reference(s) or corrections, bombs away.

First of all, thanks to ladiesandgentlemen for putting this together and posting it. Great information and it's very much appreciated.

signs-stop.gif

Second, let's please not turn this into a discussion of what players should/could make, who the Ducks may sign, etc. Let's leave this as a thread to use as a reference, not as a discussion. These are numbers, not opinions, and there's really nothing to discuss unless you are disputing a players cap hit or salary. There are plenty of other threads for those discussions and to bring them in here would do nothing but get this thread off topic and further fragment the dialogue.

Thanks in advance for your cooperation.

Believe you are correct on Sbisa. While it seems that most entry contracts signed with the Ducks usually have bonuses attached, the Sbisa contract (signed with Philly) apparently doesn't. I was surprised.

And the only "bomb" I have is more of a discrepency between two sources. Brookbank is listed at your numbers on nhlnumbers....but at $500k and $500k on nhlscap. (Per forum consensus....go with nhlnumbers until nhlscap divorces itself from HockeyBuzz smile.gif). Of course, if $25 or $50k becomes a make-or-break number, we're all in trouble anyway. crybaby.gif biggrin.gif

OK, for the sake of clarity, can we at least separate FA's... like:

------------------------------------

09-10 SALARY <-> CAP HIT NUMBER
($mil)

Goaltenders
6.000 J.S.Giguere- 6.000
1.300 Hiller- - - - - 1.300

Defense
4.000 Whitney - - - - - 4.000
0.875 Sbisa- - - - - - - 0.875
0.625+Mikkelson- - - 0.822- (Bonus potential could affect either number)
0.550 Brookbank- - - 0.525
RFA* - Wisniewski - ?.??? (*Arbitration eligible)
RFA - Festerling - - ?.???
UFA - Scotty- - - - - ?.???
UFA - Beauch - - - - ?.???

Forwards
5.125 Getzlaf - - - - 5.325
6.500 Perry - - - - - 5.325
4.250 Lupul - - - - - 4.250
2.000 Selanne - - - 2.625
0.765+Bobby Ryan- 1.922- (Bonus potential could affect either number)
0.875 Parros- - - - - 0.875
0.900 Nokelainen- - 0.850
0.625 Carter- - - - - 0.625
0.500 Brown- - - - - 0.538
0.525 Miller - - - - - 0.525
0.500 Ebbett - - - - 0.487
?.??? Bodie - - - - - -?.???
UFA* - Christensen - ?.??? (*Not tendered a qualifying offer)
UFA - Marchant - - - ?.???
UFA - Rob Nieds- - - ?.???

Other
1.333 Bertuzzi - - - 1.333 (Buyout)

$37.248mil <- - -> 38.202mil
Actual Payroll<- - ->League Cap Number

-----------------------

I also added Christensen and Bodie, who were ommited.

NHLSCAP only lists cap hit numbers and not actual salaries, doesn't it? hmm.gif

In any case, one of them is wrong. I used the NHLNUMBERS' numbers because I thought I remembered Brookbank having an increasing salary, and it was never in the 400's... so I deemed NHLSCAP to be in error.

ADD: here is a reference from Spector (Lyle Richardson) on Fox Sports

We can have a pissing contest all day long about this.

Is this all emanating from your disdain of Francois Beauchemin and hope that Rob Niedermayer doesn't return?

EDITED:

In the sake of harmony and compromise, I have deleted Francois Beauchemin and Rob Niedermayer from the list.

I have left Scotty on there because I don't know anyone here who doesn't believe he will be on our roster, and I think the same is more than likely with T-Bone.

Are we good yet?

No it stemmed from you not including Bodie and Christensen, but including Rob and Beauch. you have to draw the line somewhere, you either include all of last years roster who may or may not re-sign or include none of it. otherwise it's confusing as it implies some sort of news.

I added Bodie and Christensen for this reason, because like Beauch and Rob they were on the team last year, more so, Bodie has a signed contract and Christensen has been given a contract offer ("of sorts").

I then moved the FA's becaus ewe have a bunch and a bunch of ?.??? mixed in all over the list seems harder to read than including confirmed players in a list with FAs separate.

But whatever, i don't have the time to maintain the list, so thank yo for doing it, i was just trying to help you organize it better. I'll but out now.

In the HockyBuzz incarnation, there is a button in the upper right that allows you to switch between salaries, and cap hits. It's clunky, but the information is there....(when it isn't wrong).

Added Troy Bodie

Note: I think a list that has 22 players on it (2 goalies, 7 defensemen, 13 forwards... reflecting a typical active roster), is most convenient at this point to get an idea of our Cap standing. Once we have other numbers for re-signed RFA's, UFA's, and/or other players under contract that we think have a shot at making the roster out of camp, maybe I should put them on a separate list below the best-guess totals list. That way, we can still have a running total to look at, but also have the info at hand for substitutes to the best-guess list.

It's going to be a neat juggling act to figure out who is and is not on the team, but it might be nice to keep a running total through camp, then we will be able to keep an eye on how much salary is left to trim to get under the cap by opening night.

I think that was the point! And why he was limiting his list to likely roster players, (best guess anyway).

Well, if Christensen signed a one-way deal you can add him to the list because he will definitely be on the roster come opening night. Bodie, on the other hand, had to have signed a two-way deal, right?

Maybe not.

If the expectation is he "probably won't be ready to go by training camp", he might not be.

Indeed.

According to Hoornstra's blog entry:

QUOTE
Also, forward Troy Bodie has signed a two-year contract that will pay him $500,000 if he reaches the NHL and $75,000 in the minors. Bodie scored 15 goals in 71 games for Iowa last season before earning a four-game NHL call-up at midseason.

Actually, thinking out loud here, players with small number contracts may be real valuable. I hear Calgary will need about 10 of them to complete their roster since they've got so much money tied up on four or five guys.

Iginla for Ebbett and Christensen? The value may be in the eye of the cap beholder. wink.gif

Good call. I think the fact that Christensen's got a one-way contract pretty much assures him of a spot on the team come opening night.
