The Wild plans to bring free agent Petr Sykora to Minnesota on a tryout, General Manager Chuck Fletcher told the Star Tribune on Monday morning.
As reported by the Star Tribune on Sept. 5, Fletcher was contemplating making a contract offer to Sykora last week.
Those offers were indeed made but not agreed to by Sykora because of a lucrative, tax-free contract sitting on the table in Russia. However, Sykora’s since had a change of heart and the Wild has invited him to camp on a tryout pending a physical rather than signing him yet.
No contract has been agreed upon, Fletcher said. Sykora will fly from the Czech Republic on Tuesday.
