Rob actually thinks he's worth the "Scott tax" Anaheim was paying him LOL

Sykora just signed with the Wild for 1.6mil. If Rob wants anything over about half that, he's probably out of luck.
Too bad, too. I think he has something to offer to a team, but just felt a little too secure in Anaheim. In a new location, with a little pressure put on him, I think he could thrive.

At 34 years old and with a Cup under his belt, I don't blame him one bit if he can make an extra couple million or whatever by playing overseas for the last couple of years of his career.
Faced with being able to make in 2 years over there what it would take him 5-6 years over here, why not do it and avoid the 3-4 extra years of wear & tear on the body that you have to use for the rest of your life?
Plus, his kid(s) are young enough still where it won't interfere with their school momentum/social network yet, if I'm not mistaken. As far as the opportunity, it's good timing for it. I think I'd be down for it just for the adventure. (OK... the extra money wouldn't hurt, either)

Couldn't agree more. It still bums me out that Robbie couldn't get a contract with anyone but the man has to do what's best for him and his family. He'll never be forgotten in theses neck of the woods. Good luck in Russia Robbie!

Plus, the KHL is a lot softer than the NHL.

True.
However, once you leave the rink in Russia, it's the other way around.

Rob may be the best defensive forward in that league.
