Recently in GDTs and other forums the subject of food and drink has come up quite a bit. As someone who enjoys good food and good drinks, I'm asking what is it you like?

What's your favorite food?
Meal?
Snack?
Beer?
Wine?
Liqueur?
Soft drink?
Dessert?
Fruit?
Got a favorite restaurant in SoCal or elsewhere? How about a restaurant to avoid?
Other?

my fav ingredients are eggs, tomatoes, mushrooms and cheese.. so give me anything breakfast any day and i'm gonna be very happy. LOVE eggs benedict
when i drink beer i go for 312 or Arsenalnoe (by russian brewery Baltika)
like Asti champagne
non alcoholic? heavily carbonated mineral water is the best biggrin.gif
guilty pleasure: double cheeseburger from MikeyD's
dessert: creme brulee, tiramisu and a cake i make ( i think i posted it in "happy b-day AD thread)
like quesadillas, skirt stake, kebobs that my brother grills
will eat any sushi as long as there is no fish in them.

and as for the fav restaurant (sorry, not in SoCa wink.gif) it's Lithuanian restaurant here in Chicago - Grand Duke's (OMG!! if you ever in Chicago and are curious about Slavic cuisine, half of which can be qualified as "heart attack on the plate" this is a must-go place... the chef there is a genius. it's hard to impress my dad with restaurant food and he was floored by the taste and the quality of food there, all for very modest price)

and i like to cook.. not everyday stuff, just when i feel inspired and then i experiment and make something really new and usually very good (per my friends and family biggrin.gif)

Okay here's mine biggrin.gif

Meal: I'm a big fan of Indian food so a huge chicken curry with garlic nan & poppadoms would keep me very happy.
Snack: A toasted subway melt with cheese on honey & oat bread from Subway. Or for real junk food I'd head to KFC or BK.
Beer: I don't drink beer anymore, I prefer white wine.
Wine: A Chilean wine that is only sold in Marks & Spencer's called Casa Leona and not just cause of the name biggrin.gif Or some Kumala, which is from South Africa. I very rarely drink so I kinda stick to the same types unless of course so kind soul has bought me some champagne. I really acquired a taste for that after our wedding as we got loads of bottles and Craig doesn't drink so I got them all to myself, huzzah.
Liqueur: I'll stick to the wine.
Soft drink:It can only be Scotland's other national drink, Irn-Bru. The drink that is murdering our teeth.
Dessert:Oh anything big, chocolately and very gooey.
Fruit: Strawberries.
Favorite Restaurant It's a local one for me since I'm not in SoCal. The Jahangir has been in Dundee for over 20 years and helpfully is a 15 minutes walk from our house. It's the best Indian restaurant in town IMHO. I first went there for my 16th birthday and have been a regular ever since, it's the first place we think of when we fancy a date cause the food is divine, the service excellent and you never leave disappointed.
Other? Doughnuts from Tim Hortons especially those honey dripped ones. I'm also very keen on mint tea. It's kinda weird as my Mum tried to get me to drink it years ago but I resisted and now I drink it all the time. That and hot chocolate. Oh I adore hot chocolate now, I just hate having to go into coffee shops when I get a craving for some as I can't stand coffee. It makes me fell sick. And before anyone starts a pondering, I'm not pregnant. Coffee has always made me feel nauseous. I'm just weird. But then we know that already happydance.gif

What's your favorite food?
Cajun
Though I haven't known of a good Cajun Restaurant in the OC since Cliffs Ragin Cajun in Fountain Valley closed a few years back... sad.gif

Meal?
Shabu Shabu
If you don't know what it is, look it up... Kind of hard to explain, but VERY tasty Japanese cuisine.

Snack?
Probably Beef Jerky....
Good beef jerky that brown, not that creepy red stuff most convenience stores sell.

Beer?
(Highly Dependent of Mood & weather)
Fat Tire, Guiness or Newcastle
Nothing Yellow, Yellow bear makes me gag

Wine?
Syrah
More Specifically Coppola Syrah/Shiraz
Amazing wine and an even more amazing price.
A good Malbec is nice as well.

Liqueur?
Knobb Creek
Neat. Thank you very much

Soft drink?
Coke
Or better yet Vanilla Coke (not the canned version, but from a restaurant)

Dessert?
Bananas Foster
Close Second, Creme Brulee

Fruit?
Rainier Cherries

Got a favorite restaurant in SoCal or elsewhere?
California Shabu Shabu, in Fountain Valley

How about a restaurant to avoid?
Blue Bayou in Disneyland
Over rated, over priced... I have no idea why anyone thinks that is food, let alone good food. Makes me nuts anytime I hear someone say they use their annual pass sometimes, just to go their for dinner.

Other?
Honorable mentions here go to:
Sushi(Tako, Tuna) mmmmmm Shushi!!!
JT Schmidts (Their Beers and Wedge Salad are fantastic)

I avoid Red Lobster but I'll have to agree on the biscuits.

Although we don't have them in CA, if you ever get a chance to eat a Potbelly's Sandwich do, they're amazing.

As far as meals go I don't have a favorite per se but... Indian, Thai, Hungarian, and Mexican top the list. I like Italian but most red sauces are too sweet for me.

Food.: I like a little bit of everything

Meal: It would probably have to be Grilled Salmon, Penne ala Vodka would be my favourite comfort food

Snacks: Funyuns, Cheezits, pita chips and hummus, pineapple spears DOLE WHIP!!!! other fruits

Soft Drinks: I'm a recovering Dr. Pepper addict, also drink a lot of water, and sobe life water, the apple pear and black and blueberriy, and Green tea vitamin water.

Beer: Sam Adams; most varieties,, Blue Moon on Occasion

Wine. a friend got me on Cabernet, not really picky about what kinds tho.

liquor: (another favourite subject) Tequila Rose, and Midori if it's a bad day, Johnnie Walker Black, and almost anything in the "99" collection.

Places to eat: I agree with Todrick, the Blue Bayou IS over rated...then again, so is most of the Disneyland Resort.

There's an awesome Greek place in Santa Ana, and a fantastic Irish Pub in Huntington Beach (cant remember the names tho)

Love wahoo's grilled fish tacos, and rubio's chicken street tacos. Fisherman's Market in Palm Springs is good too.

never go to dennys, unless it's after midnight, or it's the one near the stadium. you'll never get served. I'm sure there's more

The exception would be Ralph Brennan's Jazz Kitchen in Downtown Disney.

Great food. (though it is Disneyland resort, so it's WAY pricey)

Not that it's "REAL" Cajun, but definitely Cajun influenced... their Gumbo is authentic and excellent, their Bananas Foster is fantastic... and they actually make and serve fresh Beignets!!!

What's your favorite food? Pasta! That or chocolate smile.gif

Meal? Something with pasta? And Pizza

Snack? Apples or other fruits

Beer? I don't drink
Wine? Same as above
Liqueur? Same as above

Soft drink? Mountain Dew (although it has to be caffeine free) or Root Beer

Dessert? Something warm and chocolate! Any thing with cream cheese is good too.

Fruit? Strawberries

Got a favorite restaurant in SoCal or elsewhere? I don't eat at a lot of restaurants, and I have yet to be to SoCal, but I like Sonic and BD Mongolians. Oh, does Tim Hortons count (I work there now)

How about a restaurant to avoid? I won't eat Taco Bell. I understand the meat is really low grade.

Other? Fazoli's is really good.

It's been a while, but I used to eat at Chateau Orleans in San Diego (PB I think) and would definitely recommend it. My company also used them to cater for some meetings held in SD and the clients (some from New Orleans in fact) were impressed.

I'll be in NO next month and am looking forward to some cajun food.

Favorite cuisines: California, Mexican/Portuguese, Thai, French, Asian fusion, Italian, Deli

Favorite meals and where I go to get them (in no particular order):
Grilled chicken fillet topped with melted Jack cheese and roasted asparagus. (my house!)
Rubio's 2 Fish Taco Combo with extra pico de gallo and limes.
Wagamama's Kare Lomen with Prawns (London).
Houston's Thai Steak and Noodle Salad or BBQ Baby Back Ribs with Slaw (SoCal).
Jerry's Deli Chopped Salad (Torrance)
Nando's Peri Peri Chicken (London).
Keefer's Pink Bean Soup in King City, CA. Also if you hit them around breakfast they have Linguiça!! Yumm!!!
Santa Maria Barbecue -- Summer weekends at the Penny's parking lot.
Apple Farm Restaurant's Apple Sausage and Eggs breakfast in San Luis Obispo. Any of you married men in SoCal want to make huge points with the wife? Take her for a weekend to The Apple Farm (and don't complain! They may be frou frou but the restaurant you will absolutely love!)
Any place that has a baked three cheese ziti casserole (best I've had was in NYC at John's Pizzaria on 44th)
Fresh baguette with Brie and cold green grapes. Usually buy both fresh from Giuliano's Deli. Great for picnics or just because it's summer.
Arcadia Restaurant, San Jose Chicken Mac n Cheese. OMG!!! (They also serve something called Duck Fat Fries... ohmy.gif

Favorite desserts: Coconut cream pie, anything they make at Hotcakes Bakes on Centinela, Ladurée macarons and anything and everything with Belgian chocolate!

Beer: Guinness pulled by a green-eyed black Irishman! Or Dos Equis Amber with lime in the the summertime.
Wine: Conundrum (it tastes like all the great grapes from Napa to Temecula!)
Liquor: Scotch on the rocks (The Glenlivet single malt or Chivas Regal preferred).

I'm sooooo hungry now!

Favorite cuisines: ...Portuguese...

Best Portuguese Restaurant outside of Portugal, is "Atasca" in Cambridge, MA although some friends took me to some great holes-in-the-wall places in Fall River that were pretty amazing. There's a very good Portuguese beer called "Sagres" that I wouldn't mind having access to. I can't find it for sale anywhere.

Well, it is possible, although not as widely sold. As for the point, I love Mountain Dew, but caffeine makes me sick. So I get the Diet Caffeine Free. Maybe not as much fun, but...

Wait... Diet Too!?!?

See I can't drink diet, anything with Aspartame in it makes me gag. I have never understood how anyone drinks Diet Coke or better yet how people claim Diet Dr. Pepper taste slike regular Dr. Pepper....

If i drink anything with Aspartame in it, I taste no sweetness or flavor at all, just bitter chemicals... Like drinking a cup of poison.

Coke Zero is the one exception... and even then, i have to drink it VERY cold and VERY fast.

Maybe I should just stop before I dig myself deeper, eh?

I drink diet because, with the calorie count, it was either diet or nothing! It did take some getting used to at first, but now I don't mind.
