Jake Gardiner, and the Wisconsin Badgers, begin their season October 16th against Colorado College. Gardiner will be joined by Justin Schultz, another Ducks prospect, this season.

Bonino and Boston University also begin their season on the 16th, against Mass.

Palmieri and Notre Dame have already started their season, splitting their first two games against A-H. Palmieri potted a goal in each game. Their next game is on the 15th, against Providence.

For those who didn't know, including myself, A-H is Alabama Huntsville. I didn't even know that they played hockey in Alabama.

Just an update - Bonino looked pretty good against Notre Dame on Tuesday. BU lost the game, but through no lack of effort on Bonino's part. He might end up being a real special player. He was making the kind of plays that we'd expect from Getzlaf, showing tremendous vision. Boston U has him running their PP, and it's pretty obvious why.

His two-way game is also really impressive. Last season he lead the NCAA with, I believe, a +29. It was for good reason. BU likes to use him on the PK, and he plays very responsible defensively. He broke up a number of plays just by working hard and knowing where to be. There was also never any hesitation to take the body. The kid likes to throw his weight around.

He was just flat out the best player on the ice, and Boston University seems to have him slotted as their top forward. If his linemates showed more finish, he could have ended up with 2 or 3 points pretty easily. In one play made a clever little chip to get past a defenseman to create a 2-on-1, saucered the puck over a defenseman's stick to a teammate, and with a gaping net the puck was shot right off the post. It was a real high quality play, that just didn't result in anything.

For Notre Dame, and us, Palmieri also had a good game. He brought a high energy level to the game, and got very involved offensively. He had a real nice breakaway in the game but rang it off the post, while making a real good play to maintain possession while he was being pressured hard by a defending Terrier. He was probably the 2nd best forward for ND in this game, which is actually a lot better than it might initially sound, when you consider that he's a Freshman.

Palmieri article, for your reading pleasure:

QUOTE
Palmieri -- the 26th overall pick this past June -- scored the only regulation goal for Notre Dame Thursday against Michigan State, and the Irish went on to win in a shootout. Then on Sunday, he picked up his first career game-winning goal, as Notre Dame beat the Spartans 4-1 in Fort Wayne, Ind.
