On Wednesday, Joffrey Lupul (back) had his first hard skate with the team since he went out of the lineup two weeks ago. He said he was progressing but didn’t have an idea of his potential return. - Orange County Register

Defenceman Boris Valabik, who just completed a conditioning assignment in AHL Chicago after undergoing surgery in October, missed Wednesday's practice to have a minor procedure on his ankle. He is expected to return Thursday. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

Patrick Kaleta, suspended for two games after a boarding incident, will return to the lineup on Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens. Head coach Lindy Ruff said captain Craig Rivet (ankle, knee) is doing better, but it still seems unlikely he will be ready by Thursday. - Buffalo News

Goaltender Craig Anderson (neck) left Wednesday's game in overtime after Panthers' defenceman Keith Ballard collided with him following a scoring attempt. Anderson, who appeared to hit his head on the goal post, was seen walking to a medical room with the trainer after the game to undergo some tests. He is listed as day-to-day. - Denver Post

Winger Milan Hejduk (knee) skated Wednesday, but was held out on Wednesday. Head coach Joe Sacco said Hejduk might return Thursday in Pittsburgh. - Denver Post

Jonas Gustavsson will undergo a repeat heart ablation procedure on Friday. The first procedure took place on September 15, 2009 during training camp. The determination was made after Gustavsson was examined on Wednesday by medical specialists. - Team Release

Defenceman Carl Gunnarsson sustained a hyperextension injury to his elbow in Monday's game against Buffalo. He is expected to be out of the lineup for approximately six weeks. - Team Release
