OC Register has this poll on at the moment and I find it somewhat surprising that Selanne is winning it. He is my favourite player of all-time, but he wasn't playing for us for 3 and a half seasons of this decade. For me its clearly Giguere, who we has led us to everything we have achieved this decade.

He's not just the goaltender from our best seasons, he's also the only one on that list who has been with us for almost the entire decade. If you were to vote a player as the greatest in franchise history, T think Selanne's contributions from the previous decade combined with this one would make him the greatest player in team history. But for the years 2000-2010 I'll say Jiggy while at the same time admitting my bias for goaltenders. However I will admit that While Giguere was key in our two best playoff runs, there were two others where he watched from the bench as his counterpart stepped into the starring role for a great run. Some people forget how dominant Bryz was in 2006, partly in thanks to the beating we ended up getting from Edmonton in the playoffs, while most NHL fans will recognize the name Jonas Hiller after last season's effort.

I don't think Pronger was here long enough to be included in this discussion, but that shouldn't diminish what he did.

Scott Niedermayer changed EVERYTHING though. He was definitely the catalyst to the last four years enabling the other three guys on this list to have success they had. Maybe if it was a list of the greatest Ducks of the past five seasons i'd vote Niedermayer.

I went with Selanne who owns most offensive records for the Ducks (that didn't come out right hmm.gif) and for his character. But JSG is a close second for his leadership. No doubt.

In terms of length of service spent with the team, I think the undesputed winner is Giggy.

#8 and #35 should both be retired here but I voted Selanne due to his records, contribution, and multiple roles with the team. JSG is definitely #2 and it was a hard decision between the two... Unfair question biggrin.gif

EDIT: As much as we all may love Scotty, he will be better remembered for his time in NJ. And as for Pronger, he was a stud for us but he wont be remembered as a Duck by anyone other than Ducks fans.

To me Jiggy is the clear choice. Selanne is easily the most popular player the team has ever had, but while he certainly contributed tons in this last little stint, he was a much better player when he was here the first time.

Since Shane Hnidy wasn't an option... I had to go with #8. Second choice would be #35.
